The night seemed to fly by in an instant as your body had taken place on the couch at Akaashi's place. Your eyes had slowly fallen shut in the presence of the night. And as the mornings horizon took its first great breath, Christmas Eve was born.

Akaashi enjoyed sleeping in, relaxing into the soft blankets that filled his bed until the sun met perfectly 50 degrees above the horizon. However, his body refused to let him sleep any longer, forcing him to raise up.

He stumbled out of his room into the open living room, seeing you there in sleep. His eyes narrowed as his cheeks turned pink. He leaned against the doorway, letting his head fall against the frame as he folded his arms gently. His eyes focused on you, and his mind wondered how you were even here. Why him out of all the others that were better, blocked his mind. Why had you chosen him to become this close with, blocked his mind. You confused him deeply. You didn't make sense.

But, he could admit to himself that it was one of the reasons he felt this way.
It amazed him. You, amazed him.

His eyes moved to the floor as he leaned off of the doorway and walked to the balcony, opening up the door and looking outside before walking into the kitchen, leaving the door open. He reached for the cabinet. Grabbing the mugs, he began to make tea.

The sun's rays shone through the glass of the sliding door as birds chirped outside. It was so quiet inside the apartment, except for the hushed sound of the fan that spun in the ceiling. In a way it was relaxing, hearing the faint noise of life outside of the glass doors. The early breath that the morning brought was all so nostalgic. Akaashi felt a sense of comfort from it all, and felt a rare feeling he hadn't felt in a long time. A sense of belonging, where the loneliness that had once been, had dissipated into the thin air that filled his apartment. The presence of someone else beside him gave him something to look forward to, and a foreshadowing of how his life was changing. It intrigued him none the less.

Your sleeping state soon changed as the small sounds filled your ears. In your dream, you could hear the birds voices through the open glass door, and the distracting sounds of the outside slowly woke you. Your eyes batted open in response to the light shining on your face.
The blanket on top of you felt warm as you lifted up your head and sat up against the couch.

Of course, Akaashi was there in the kitchen. It brought a smile to your face, seeing him.

Slowly and quietly you arose from the couch, making your way over to Akaashi with tired, sleepy eyes.

"Good morning." You smiled to him, facing his back. Your voice was scratchy and your hair a mess as you met his side.

He turned his eyes to you, a soothing smile on his face, "To you as well." He spoke softly. The sun's rays hit his face, and a strange feeling overcame the atmosphere. It was all so peaceful, waking up like this.

He raised his chin, closing his eyes and sighing out happily. The breeze from the door that was left open gently touched his hair.

You looked at him in question, "What was that just now?" You laughed, referring to his sigh.

He opened his gunmetal blue eyes.
His pleasant voice sounded,
"It's just really beautiful this morning."
