Flashback:
A single leaf fell from the branch of a tree. It was of an orange color, perhaps the only orange one in the assortment of green leaves left on the trees.
But it was autumn, and the leaves would start turning colors to eventually all fall and meet the same fate.Yet, somehow, the wind picked the leaf off the face of the earth, and it blew. Simultaneously, in a different location, a different leaf was picked up by the same strand of wind. They blew through cars and over buildings and underneath the clouds just to meet together in the same place, at the same time.
Walking out of the volleyball stadium, you opened up the glass doors with a Kitagawa Daiichi Junior High bag around your shoulder.
Then suddenly as if things began to play in slow motion and the glass doors closed behind you with a bang that rung throughout your ears, a leaf blew in front of your sight, taking strands of your your hair with it. The wind was silent, and yet everything else seemed still around you. And your eyes widened in sight.
As it blew away, a pair of gunmetal blue eyes peered before you. He looked at you with parted lips, and a bit of surprise as your footsteps brought you closer, now only a foot away. His hair was wavy and dark as night, looking soft to the touch, when a leaf of an orange hue flouted into his hair.
The boy with short, dark, wavy hair stopped as he looked up, feeling that the leaf had landed, but he paused.
Your arm rose and reached up above his face, and you grabbed the leaf out of his hair.
"Looks like the wind blew this." You smiled with a tilted head before showing him the leaf between your fingers. His eyes widened a bit, and his eyebrows raised ever so slightly as he was caught in your glance.
His heart beat a little heavier on his chest. He was too dumbfounded to say anything but he opened his mouth as to try and summon the words.
But he was really wondering, 'Who is she?'One of your good friends was Kaori, the Fukurodani volleyball manager, and she was a first year. Kaori had told you about a dark haired boy that was looking to join the team once he became a first year. Akaashi, she thought his name was. You still thought about it, that boy you saw must have been him. That would mean, once you transferred to Fukurodani, you might see him again along with Bokuto. You had only known Bokuto because of Kaori, but you had met him a few times while watching a game with Kaori. You couldn't help but wonder how things would change.
That was the first time you had ever laid eyes on the boy, and about a year and a half later, you would see him again.
Present:
The cherry blossom trees were late in bloom, and petals fell as you walked the cement sidewalk. You wore a Fukurodani uniform as it was moving out of summer. Also, you had recently transferred from a Miyagi prefecture school from your second year, and moved to Tokyo on your own for academic and athletic purposes. A better set for your future. So you went to Fukurodani, even though school had already started and you had only moved recently, everything was set to where you would attend the school so famous for its volleyball. Or at least, that's what you had heard about the school from Kaori.
The air was soft, smelled sweet of flowers as you walked, and it was quiet as you watched your feet move step by step. It was peaceful, and comforting.
As you lifted your head a little further up the ground, a pair of black leather shoes were placed.
A little surprised, you raised your head further, and your eyes widened as the wind suddenly blew back your hair, and loose cherry blossoms danced in the breeze in rows of swirls.
The world itself seemed to stop spinning, and immense feeling of deja vu washed over you in a flood.
