Day 10
"I'm home!" Natsuki yells excitedly opening the door, only to be greeted with a dark hallway and silence.
Taking off her shoes and jacket, and letting down her long caramel brown hair, the mother checked the kitchen, library, living room, back porch, basement and attic in search for her son. She was a little surprised when she didn't find her son hiding in the attic, in his childhood the boy had this habit of hiding away from them and locking himself up in the dark, dusty attic reading books with his cat Millie before she died.
Eventually, she decided to see Karma's room.
Well imagine her surprise to find Karma on the floor with a strawberry blonde boy who bore a resemblance to a certain someone. The two were under an expertly made blanket fort, with cake crumbs all over. Karma had his head leaning against the strawberry blonde boy's shoulder, and the other boy had his cheek on top of Karma's head.
The television was on static, there was an empty box of cake in the corner
There was a bowl of water with a face towel on it, a thermometer, and some medicine on the table.
Natsuki placed a hand on her son's neck. His fever was gone.
Her golden eyes moved to the boy sleeping with her son. His resemblance with Gakuho was there alright, but there were traces of his mother's features on him. From the small of his nose to the curve of his eyes.
Natsuki had half a mind to wake them up, but decided to just leave them alone and make breakfast instead.
The woman went downstairs, put on a blue apron, pulled her hair back, and starts rummaging through the drawers for anything she can make for her son.
She was, once again surprised, when she opened all the kitchen cabinets to find they had been restacked. When she and her husband left, there were barely any food left.
She checked the fridge, the freezer was filled with meat
The crisper was full of vegetables
And everything else that was once empty and depressed looking had been refilled.
"Um"
The woman spun around and met with beautiful purple eyes. Gakuho's boy had woken up, and had a white apron in hand.
"Gakushū?" Natsuki found herself smiling. "You are Gakushū right? Karma's friend?"
Gakushū bowed politely at her. "That's me" he responded with confidence.
Natsuki gestured to the entirety of the kitchen. "Did you-" she pointed at the cabinets and the clean plates and utensils. "did you do this?"
"I'm sorry, I hope I didn't offend you believe me that's not what my intentions were! You see I, the house's atmosphere was depressing-beg your pardon for that- and there was no food or anything healthy. It seemed as if the food you eat are often take outs and Karma hadn't had a home cooked meal for a while-atleast that's what it looked like for me- so I thought I could, help? Maybe?" The boy fired a rapid explanation it was almost difficult for Natsuki to keep track.
In the end, the woman simply said "Help me make breakfast"
And half an hour later, Karma was woken up to laughter coming from the kitchen. Half irritated, the red head stormed downstairs, not noticing he was half dragging the blanket he and Gakushū shared with him
"What the-" Karma started, only to stare at Gakushū stirring ramen in a pot and his mother laughing to herself. Natsuki couldn't cook so she left Gakushū to do all the work.
When they sensed his presence, Natsuki smiled at her son, to which he ignored
And Gakushū raised a hand to Karma. "Morning"
To which the red head returned the greeting.
They ate in silence, Natsuki making small talk, Karma keeping his mouth shut, and the strawberry blonde answering Natsuki.
Eventually, the strawberry blonde had to return home. Now that Karma is better and they've both been missing out on school for three days, Gakushū was sure his desk would be piled high with undone student council paperwork.
As soon as the blonde had left however, and Karma turned to go back to his room(or maybe hide in the basement this time) his mother said something that caught him off guard
"He's a nice boy, I like him" and then went to clean the kitchen.
