(A/N: this imagine is set in the future, so everyone is a bit older then they were in the book. Syd is about 22, Johnny will be the same age, and Pony is 20. Note: no characters have died)

Syd's POV:

I got out of the car and looked around. Tulsa still looked the same, even 4 years later. Thanks to Darry and Soda, I was able to go to college. The university was about 6 hours away, so I didn't come home much.

I drove down the street and saw the DX, The Dingo, and the lot. I smiled to myself. I turned the corner and saw a familiar house with a familiar truck in the driveway. I walked into the house a saw Pony sitting on the couch, reading. He didn't notice me.

"Pony!" I whispered. He jumped.

"Syd! Darry! Soda! Syd's home!"

The other 2 brothers ran out of the kitchen and smiled. Then came all the questions.

"How was college?"

"Are you going to take another year?"

"What was your major? Who were your roommates?"

"Whoa whoa whoa! Slow down! College was great! No, I don't think I'll do another year, my roommate was nice. That's all I caught. But I have a question. How are you guys and the gang?"

Soda smiled. "We're all good. I'm still at the DX. Steve still works there part-time, Darry got a promotion, and Pony's at college too. He's majoring in English I think. Dally's, well, he's still Dally. Two-Bit finally passed high school; the staff was sick of him. And Johnny still hangs out here."

I smiled. Johnny was my first crush and boyfriend. We dated forever, but it ended when I left for the university.

Johnny's POV:

I watched a car pull into the Curtis driveway and saw a girl get out. My heart lifted. It was Syd. She was my girlfriend, but she broke up with me because of college. She didn't realize that I still loved her. I had to tell her. I walked over to the house and opened the door.

"-wait. Pony, where's the grease in your hair?" She was saying.

"College. I had to wash it out for that. My hair feels so weird!"

She laughed. I missed that laugh.

"Hello!" I called.

Syd looked at me and broke into a smile. "Johnny! How are you?"

"I'm good. I've missed you."

"I've missed you too! We need to catch up." She sat on the couch. "Darry's making dinner. Sit. We can talk now!"

I sat down. She was still as beautiful as ever. "So how was college?"

"It was pretty amazing. I met so many new people! It was a great experience!"

"Any new boyfriends?" Whoops. I probably shouldn't have said that. Her smile faded.

"Well, I did have one. We dated freshman through junior year, but then I found out he was cheating on me. What about you? Any girlfriends?"

"Nope."

"Come on. Really?"

"Not since you."

"I bet you're lying."

"Nope. Wanna know why?"

"Why?"

"Because I turned down every girl. I still love you, Syd. Every time a girl asked me out, I thought of you. I felt like I was cheating on you. I'm always thinking of you. I love you. And I was wonderin' if we could, maybe get back together?"

Syd looked at me. I felt nervous. Then she leaned forward and pressed her lips against mine.

"Yes."
