Chapter 23- The Lake Part Two

"Hi, Cedric. You wanted to work on something?" He looks up at me. He's sitting on his bed reading an incredibly long book.

"Yes, uh- here." He moves over and I sit next to him, a few inches away so our shoulders aren't touching.

"I'm not going to bite." He rolls his eyes and wraps his arm around my waist, pulling me close to him.

"You look nice." He continues reading. What's his deal? He asked me here so I could sit next to him while he reads?

"What are we doing?" I look over at him.

"I just wanted to see you."

"We see each other all the time." My face goes red.

"Do you want to go somewhere?" He turns to me eagerly.

"Sure, but you invited me, here." I look around the room.

"Let's go!" He takes a blanket off his bed and then, my hand. We run out of the his dorm, through the common room and out the front of the school.

"Omgod-" I say, taking in the cool November air. We look at each other, he takes my hand again. He looks back at me, smiling and we continue walking until we reach the black lake. Cedric looks at something written on his hand and recites a spell I have never heard. He places his foot on the lake and the water doesn't move.

"Woah." I say, in awe.

"How did you think of this?" I turn to him, a smile on his face.

"I thought you would like it. I know you like to go up to the astronomy tower and look at the starts. So, I thought seeing them from here would be even better." I smile back at him and lean into his arm while we walk.

"Ok, I don't think anyone will see us this far from the castle." He lays the blanket down and we both lay on top of it. I can feel him looking at me.

"What?" I say, still looking at the stars.

"You're so beautiful." He places his hand on my cheek, making us face to face.

"Really?" I let myself melt into his big grey eyes.

"Yes. I have never met someone as clever and beautiful and absolutely maddening as you."

"Ced I-" Before I could say anything else he kisses me.

He takes off my shirt and continuously kisses down my jaw to my chest. I place my thumb and pointer under his jaw and pull him back up to my face. He lays back down and I straddle him.

I start un-buttoning his shirt, not breaking eye contact. Once it's off his eyes start to graze down my body and a smirk grows on his face. We start making out again and his fingers dig into my thighs. I pull away from his lips and start removing his belt, kissing down his torso and he lets out a light moan.

"Y/n-" A loud thump sound comes from under him.

"What the-" We both stand up and begin putting our clothes back on. He moves the blanket out of the way and a mermaid is staring up at us, a horrific expression on its face. We both burst out laughing.

"Terribly sorry!" Cedric waves at the mermaid and it swims away.

"I didn't know there were mermaids in the lake." I say in disbelief.

"It's not surprising, I just didn't think they would interrupt us." We both laugh again. Once we get off the lake, he resumes the water and we walk back to the castle.

"Wait, are we really going to go in the front? What if someone sees us?" I say.

"It's almost past curfew and I'm pretty chummy with Filch, even if he caught us I'm sure we would only let us off with a warning." He says, proudly.

"Fine. What else do I have to lose." I shrug and we enter. We stay close to the walls, Cedric's arm around my waist. After the second hallway, I take a reliving breath.

"Y/n!" Two figures yell and start running down the dark hall. Cedric tugs at my waist trying to get me to move, but I stay frozen.

"Come on-" The figure come out of the shadows and I gulp.

"Y/n-" Fred says out of breath.

"Goodness, you two, you can't scare someone like that." I say.

"We- need- too- talk- to- you." George heaves.

"Why? What happened." My heart starts beating faster.

"You need to come to the common room. Hermione, Harry and Ron said they needed you." Fred stands back up.

"Sorry our night ended short. I'll see you tomorrow." Cedric nods and leaves.

"Let's go." Fred and George wrap Harry's invisibility cloak around us and takes me to the common room." Hermione, Harry and Ron are all solemnly sitting on one of the couches.

"Hey, guys." I walk twords them and Hermione runs over and gives me a hug.

"What's wrong?" I say, and sit across from them.

"Remember when Draco was 'attacked' by Buckbeak?" Harry says and I nod.

"Well, he reported the situation and now Buckbeak might be executed." Ron swallows hard and rubs Hermione's back.

"Wow, is there anything we can do." I ask.

"We don't know yet. There isn't a certain date yet and there's going to be some type of trial." Harry says.

"I'm sure we'll find a way to stop it."
