Chapter 6- Warm Cologne and Jelly Slugs

Chapter 4 is two chapters after this one! (Again sorry I'm going to write these on multiple chapters)

It was 6:00 I had just got done with homework and it was time to get ready to see Cedric.

After I had obsessed over looking effortless and rehearsed what I was going to say it was time to go up to the astronomy tower. He was already sitting at the balcony looking over the tower.

"Hey Ced." He turned around and smiled.

"Hey y/n!" He patted the seat next to him.

"It's really beautiful here." I say bringing my knees to my chest. It was silent for a moment and Cedric turns to me.

"You got close with Malfoy fast." His eyes get wide like he didn't mean to say what he just did.

"Uh yeah? He just invited me to sit by him yesterday and I'm Pansy's dorm mate and they're close so..."

"Yes yes of course I don't know why I said that." He leans back and sighs. I take a moment to look at what he's wearing and I smile.

"So you like the muggle music?" He sits back up like he was exited to answer my question.

"Yes! I mean I don't know alot of because I was only muggle world for a week." I bring my legs over the edge like his.

"What do you know about the muggle world?"

"Well my dad took me to see this movie, Labyrinth when I was seven." He smiles like he's replaying the movie in his head.

"I saw that movie too. Kinda weird, wasn't it though?" I say.

"That's what makes it great." I shift to face him.

"So I don't know why but you give me the impression that you smoke." I hear him swallow hard.

"If you're talking about cigarettes, I quit last year."

"Oh no I'm not."

"Brilliant." He smiles.

About twenty minutes later I hear somone walking up the stairs.

"Ced, Do you hear that?" He sets down the lighter he was twirling between his fingers. Then goes behind what I assume is a teacher's desk.

"What are you doing?" He comes out with a broom.

"I put an extra back here in case Filch caught me last year."

"WHO IS UP THERE!" I can hear Filches voice.

"Get on!" I run up and sit on the broom behind him.

"Like this, or you're going to fall off." He takes my hands and wraps my arms around his torso. We fly off the astronomy tower, the cool September wind hitting my face.

"Do you think we could take a detour before we go back?" He turns around and we fly over the black lake. A chill rushes over me. The smell of fresh lake water and fall leaves fills my nose. I put my head on Cedric's back and he smells like cinnamon and wonderful cologne.

After a few minutes we head back to Hogwarts. Luckily, a window to the Hufflepuff common room is open and we fly through. We both get off the broom and start laughing.

"Ahem. I guess that's where you've been." We turn around and it's that same smug blonde boy from before. I sit on the couch right next to him and put out my hand.

"Hi, I'm y/n, but you probably already know that based on how you acted at lunch. I never got your name though." I scan him and he stays straight faced.

"I'm Leo Birkshire. Cedric's best mate." He shakes my hand and gives me a devilish smirk. Cedric claps to break the tension.

"So I'll get y/n back to her dorm. I'll see you later, Leo." Cedric waves to him as we leave the Hufflepuff common room.

"Sorry about him. He's just overprotective, or an asshole depending on how you look at it."

"He seems like the type of person who's cool after you get to know em." I lie and he nods.

"Shit do I look high?" I ask.

"A little, do I?" He says nervously.

"It matches your naturally happy face just try to keep your eyes open." He groans.

"I'm starving I can't believe I didn't eat dinner." I take his hand and start running to the Gryffindor common room.

"Caput Draconis." I say and the door swings open.

"RON!" I yell on my way to the boys dormitory. When I open the door I can see every boy huddled around a pile of the twins products.

"Bloody hell y/n you scared us!" Ron says.

"Cedric and I didn't have dinner do you have any snacks?" Ron looks over my shoulder to Cedric standing awkwardly.

"Sure." Ron goes under his bed and pulls out a box of food. Cedric grabs a bag of jelly slugs and opens the bag like his life depends on it.

"Thank you so much." Cedric says, mouth full of candy.

"Bloody hell are you two high?" Harry leans in to look at our eyes. Cedric and I look at each other for a moment and start laughing. The twins do too.

"Brilliant." Harry says and everyone laughs. I jump on Ron's bed and bury myself in the covers.

"Ronnnn your bed is so nice. Goodnight."

Cedric's POV-
I keep looking over at y/n while trying to listen to what Neville is talking about. About an hour ago y/n basically passed out and I have been in the Gryffindor dorms procrastinating going back to mine since.

I don't know why Leo doesn't want me around y/n. He never had a problem with any of the other girls I have been with, he even was fond of them. Was it because she was a Slytherin? That sounded ridiculous. Leo is the most Slytherin Hufflepuff I have ever met. Draco Malfoy even talks to him. I decide I'm I'm not going back to my dorm to avoid Leo's sighs and remarks until morning.
