It was pouring outside and as usual George and Fred were goofing around in the rain splashing water at the third and fourth years waiting to get to Hogwarts. A hand grips my shoulder.

"Act casual." I turn to Cedric and give him a confused look. We move to a group of fourth years and huddle next to them.

"Aren't we going to get in trouble, we're supposed to stay in our groups." I question. Im not really a stickler for the rules but starting off this year by getting chewed out by a teacher doesn't seem smart.

"I thought you would like to ride in a carriage with me." He smiled while he wiped rain out of his eyes.

"Uh yeah, of course I would." I smile at him, and even through the rain I could see his face turning crimson.

After a while we finally get into a carriage and warmth rushes over my body. Cedric starts to look out the window.

"You know, you're going to love it here. It's the most magical place." He smiles and looks out the window again.

"What position do you play for quidditch? I would love to be on the a team but I'm not really educated on the sport." I'm lying. Fred and George accually taught me at the burrow a couple summers ago.

"Im the seeker for the hufflepuff team. It's a pretty important part and I would love to teach you quidditch. Although that might not look good if we are in different houses, you know helping the enemy." It was silent for a moment when he sat up abruptly.

"Not that you would be the enemy, any house is wonderful." I laughed.

"It's fine. If we are in different houses I'm sure I can learn from some one else." We stared at each other for a moment.

"We're here." He says.

"Oh yes, ok see you later then."

"Yes, later." While he gets out of the carriage there's this longing. I wanted to stay in there forever.

Against that feeling I get out, as the door opened the cold rain hit my face killing whatever comfort I felt seconds ago.

I follow the fourth years into Hogwarts. The moment I enter, someone starts leading me through the crowd.

Once we were away from everyone I look up. An old man with half moon glasses and a large white beard smiles at me.

"Hello y/n, I am professor Dumbledore. Although I'm sure you know that. Everyone is heading into the great hall right now. Once they are seated I will bring you up to get sorted and introduce you. Follow me." I follow behind him for a few minutes until we enter through a door leading to the great hall.

"It's beautiful." I look around. Everyone is sitting at their house tables, except for the first years. Who are practically buzzing waiting to be sorted. Dumbledore directs me to go to the front of the first year crowd.

Dumbledore begins his speech and I look around behind me at the tables. I see all of my friends at the Gryffindor table. Fred and George are waving their arms yelling something, and I smile at them and wave.

"I would like to welcome a new student! Third year, y/n y/l/n!" Dumbledore gestures for me to come and get sorted. I walk up the stairs and sit on the stool. Professor McGonagall puts the sorting hat on my head.

"Hm... You do have a long line of Slytherin but you could do great in Gryffindor. You're cunning, courageous, ambitious hm.. SLYTHERIN!" The Slytherin table bursts into applause. I walk down the stairs to go to Slytherins table as McGonagall announces the next first year to be sorted. I begin looking for a place to sit when I see an almost white haired boy calling my name at the end of the table.

"Y/n! Come sit with us!" I sit down next to a dark haired girl with an annoyed expression, next to her is another boy.

"Hello, I'm Malfoy, Draco Malfoy." I shake his hand.

"Nice to meet you." I turn to the dark haired girl and she rolls her eyes.

"I'm Pansy and that's Blaise."

"Charmed." Blaise mutters. Draco leans closer to me across the table.

"So, where are you from?" I clear my throat.

"New york, but I was born in London." I say and give an awkward smile.

"Not to be rude but how are you here then?" Pansy looked me up and down.

"Well, my parents attended Hogwarts. They moved to New York right after I was born though." I say, picking at my cuticles.

"Why would your parents leave?" Pansy flips a piece of hair over her shoulder.

"Well I don't know much, but they didn't want to be associated with what other pure blood Slytherins believed." All three of their faces drop.

"Are you serious?" Draco lowers his voice to a whisper.

"Yes. Blood supremacy is super messed up and I couldn't care less who someone's parents are." I say, and Pansy scoffs.

"What Pansy, would you like to say something?" Draco turned to Pansy.

"I just think it's strange. You aren't from here. You came in your third year and you're a pure blood Slytherin." Pansy leaned closer to me.

"I think it's strange that people dedicate their lives to bully people for something they can't control. It's simply ridiculous, and I'm glad I didn't grow up in a world where that's seen as normal." She clenches her jaw.

"And will you please back away from me,thank you." I say and Pansy's face turns red.

"Whatever." Pansy muttered. Draco and Blaise start snickering about Pansy's embarrassment.

"Let the feast begin!" Dumbledores voice booms from the front of the room. Plates and plates of food appear in front of us. Everyone applauses and begins eating.

"So what's your favorite class?" I ask Draco. He looks up at me.

"Defense against the dark arts, obviously. I wonder who's going to be our teacher this year." All three of them laugh.

"What happened to the last teacher?" I ask.

"Well last year there was this super phoney guy, professor Lockhart. He completely lost it last year though. He went insane and couldn't remember who he was." Pansy turned to Draco.

"Don't forget about Quirrell, bloody disappeared just before the year ended."

"That guy was a total freak. I hate meek people." Draco rolled his eyes once more.

"Do you know anybody yet y/n?" Draco asks

"Yes, accually I know the Weasleys very well . I also have met Harry Potter and Hermione Granger a few times. And I met the new defense against the dark arts teacher on the train." Draco almost spit out his food.

"Weasley's? Potter and Granger? Those three are foul." He wrinkled his nose.

"Really? I think that you and Harry could be good friends." Blaise chuckled.

"With Potter? That's funny. Ever since Potter rejected him in first year they have had an unmatched rivalry." Blaise try's to conceal his smile.

"Blaise! That is not true!" Draco hollers.

"Is there a problem at the Slytherin table?" Dumbledore asks.

"No professor." We all say in unison.

"Draco, you don't have to yell." Pansy says, lowering her voice to a sweet tone.

"Don't tell me what and what not to do Pansy." Draco snapped. Pansy's face once again turned bright red.

This is going to be an interesting year.
