Chapter Seventeen The Aftermath Of The War

"and that was how I was reunited with Hunter and Jessica" said General Padlock, as he finished explaining. President Myers then proceeded to tell General Padlock about how He and his Wife fought in the Venezuelan War, "Ya know, my wife and I fought in Venezuela, we saw our fair share of combat and got our fair share of medals". General Padlock then asked "How many?" Myers then collected his thoughts and said "I got an Abnegation medal for saving hostages from the Venezuelan dictatorship during the war and a Purple Heart". General Padlock smirked and said "I got a Peoples Star, the highest medal of the F.P.A". General Greene's eyes widened and he said "After I ended the Moroccan Liberation War, which was when the USA put an end to the dictatorship over there, with Operation Women Rising, I got the Congressional Medal of Honour". General Padlock laughed and said "Oh really? Well I got the-" Before he could finish his sentence, Lana Valine stepped forward and said "Okay, that's enough, don't make it a medal competition". The entire crowd, the two army's and the people watching from all over the world then burst into laughter. General Padlock then said "Now back to the war"

President Myers was curious for as to what happened after the war, so he asked "What was the aftermath of the War of Annihilation?" General Padlock looked at the President and said "After the war, Earth was in ruins, forty years of conflict had reduced Humanity to just around one billion survivors and human civilisation was in ruins. The many resistance groups that fought in the war, once put aside their differences to defeat a common enemy, but after the war, like the degraded comradeship between the USA and Soviet Union, their differences in ideologies began to grow again and they went their separate ways. So one after one, they all formed their own nation states and began rebuilding civilization in their own way". Mary was curious for as to how and asked "Could you give us some examples?" General Padlock collected his thoughts and said "Understand we learned this from radio broadcasts, the Free African Army declared a continent wide hegemony, that most Africans conformed to. The New Army of Britain declared the British Republic and set up a Parliament, while the Communal Workers Army re-established the Soviet Union and by the time we left, controlled all of European Russia. the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Columbia then established the Columbian Revolutionary Republic and finally we the Free People's Army established the Free People's Republic".

Myers was rather interested in how things went for the F.P.R and asked "When were the first elections held?" General Padlock smiled and said "The first elections were held 6 months after the war, Julie Myers was elected Presiding Speaker with a whopping 84 percent of the vote against New Republican Party candidate, Weldon Holt". Mary had been studying politics so she could one day become a successful politician and knew that independent politicians were allowed, so she asked "Was Julie an independent, or part of another party?" General Padlock replied with "The Democratic Liberty Party was established during the war, Julie became close to the party and in 2137, officially became a member". General Greene then guessed the rest with "Let me guess, after she went into politics, command of the F.P.A was passed to a certain, General Nicolas Greene?" General Padlock chuckled, knowing that General Green was referring to his descendant he said "Yes". He then continued with "The F.P.R quickly got to work on rebuilding our nation and by the time we left, the poverty rate had gone from 74 percent, to a Meagher, 34 percent". Secretary of the Treasury, Jane Heart, then asked "So the poverty rate went down by 40 percent?" Hunter the 2nd answered with "Yes, plus every kid got good education and everyone got decent healthcare". "That's very good to know" said President Myers. President Myers then wondered exactly how the F.P.A sent them back in time and asked "How was the time machine created, exactly?" General Padlock smirked and jokingly said "Well, I don't know, perhaps it was do to a certain.....Operation Tick Tock?"
