Chapter Five The President's Great Grand Child

March 2nd 2050

The whole world was in shock and amazement. Shock that a great war was coming and would cost the lives of billions, amazement that this woman had led one of the most powerful armies the world had ever known. It was then that President Myers looked at Julie Myers and asked General Padlock "Is this woman of any relation to me?" while pointing at the holographic image with his robotic arm. General Padlock smiled and said "Fitting that her great grandfather was a President". Once again the whole world was in shock, President Andrew Myer's great granddaughter led Humanity in a war against machines? Mary was also shocked, she then asked "Who was my...ya know.....husband?". All the soldiers stared at her, not knowing what to say. Hunter the 2nd finally sighed and said "Most of the Myer's family records were lost during the war, so that we cant tell you". "I'm honestly not surprised" said President Myers. General Padlock then explained about Julie. He said with pride "Julie was born in 2090, ten years before the war, she lived in San Francisco with her parents whose names and looks we know nothing of, when the war happened she was only 10 years old and was determined to put an end to War-Net. She was originally part of the 2nd Continental Army, who sought to re-establish the United States, but then she thought, why re-establish a long gone nation, when I can make my own?" President Myers chuckled and said "That's my Great Grand daughter for ya then". Laughter was heard from the Free People's Army and Hunter then said "After she left the 2nd Continental Army in 2110 with some others who felt the same way as her, they started up the Free People's Army in San Francisco, they had to fight a lengthy guerrilla war against War-Net and they soon went from a minor nuisance, to a full blown insurgency". General Padlock then explained how Julie saved him and took him in. "She saved me, just like she saved the others, she turned scavengers, into militias and militias into an army. She taught us how to survive, to fight.....to hope, we rose up and took back the world that is rightfully ours". Many people were impressed that this woman had freed humanity from the machines and Mary asked "What did she mean by now we take back our world?" General Padlock smiled and said "About a week later we launched an attack on War-Nets fortress in San Francisco and severed its link with its machines in the city. We then rewired it to shut down any machines link with War-Net the moment they entered the city". General Greene was impressed and asked "Did you have something to do with it?". General Padlock nervously said "I might have snuck out against her orders and re-wired the interceptor". One old soldier burst out laughing and said "Darn right he did and Julie then cut his rations for disobeying her orders and then doubled them for saving the city!" Some people burst out laughing at this and General Padlock said "Well we did save that for the history books". Mary then scratched her head and asked "Could you show us what happened after you were saved by her?" General Padlock smiled and said "I remember the day like it was yesterday, well from your point of view its 70 years from now, but from my point of view it was 30 years ago, but we're in 2050 so technically its 70 years from now". President Myers chuckled and said "I couldn't of said that better myself".
