Chapter Twenty Two The Promise To Not Make The Future's Mistake

March 2nd 2050

The entire world had just witnessed the dark future to come and were horrified. The Golden Age would soon end and be replaced by a forty year long war that will reduce Human civilisation from an advanced, prosperous and complex yet effective society, to scattered survivors trying to defeat a rogue A.I that was determined to wipe out Humanity. The crowd were so silent, you could hear a mouse fart. People reminisced on all they had learned, the Human race had almost caused their extinction and had barely won a seemingly losing war. Finally, President Andrew Myers got on top of one of the trucks the Free People's Army had travelled back in time with and made a history changing speech.

With great pride and honour, President Andrew Myers said to his people with a megaphone, "My fellow Americans, as we have all learned today, half a century from now, we began making machines to fight our wars for us, in the hopes to make was safe. We created an A.I called War-Net to command all of them, it went rogue and in the now vanquished future, almost annihilated our species. Of those who survived, some chose to hide in the shadows, like a child, thinking a monster was in their closet, but others chose to rise up and take our world back. This War of Annihilation, as they call it, cost the lives of twelve billion people and sent us back to the dark ages. That was all because of our stupidity, our belief that nothing bad would happen, we have become comfortable and content with our lives, thinking that society is perfectly fine. We thought that most of the problems we once had are gone and that it will remain this way forever..... But we are wrong, the problems are still there, overpopulation....famine.... and war are still there. These are the problems our civilisation faces every day, we try to ignore them, thinking that if we do, they will just go away, but the more we ignore them, the worse it becomes and the problem of war got really worse. We took our society, our safety and our very lives for granted and that cost the lives of billions. The future to come is not the one we asked for, its not the one we want and its not the one we will get. Under my jurisdiction, the United States Government will pass reforms that shall heavily limit the use of machines and their intelligence levels. We shall plan in the long term, focus on cooperation, instead of war and forge our own future.....that's a promise".

The crowd then burst into applause, so did the rest of the American people and the people of the world. They were all now assured that never would Humanity almost cause their own extinction. Now Humanity were going to have a much more brighter future and with the help of the F.P.A, the human race would enter a new age of peace and prosperity. President Myers then got of the truck and went towards General Padlock. He then thanked him, saying "Thanks for securing our future". "Your welcome sir" said General Padlock as he saluted President Myers. President Myers then told him "You'll have to do a full briefing on what the future is like to the congress in a few days and I'll have you briefed on life in this time". Hunter the 2nd then proceeded to say "It'll be nice getting to know this time". Mary enthusiastically said "I'll show some of the younger ones around Washington City and tell them all about it". General Greene then said to General Padlock "In the meantime, why don't we talk about integrating the remnants of the Free People's Army in to the United States Army?" General Padlock chuckled and said "Well, that was the plan after all". As this event was being broadcasted world wide, Lana Valine said to the people watching this event at home through her camera "There you have it folks, an army of courageous warriors from the future, being sent back in time to prevent a global war and with that war now prevented, the human race has a better future ahead of us, so lets make it a good one". Thus the Humanity had now entered a new chapter in human history.....the Technology Renaissance.
