Chapter Eighteen Operation Tick Tock

"Operation Tick Tock" Were the words that came from General Padlocks mouth and as soon as President Andrew Myers heard them, he demandingly and furiously said "HOW do you KNOW about THAT!?!?" The crowd was very confused and so were all the people around the world who were watching from their homes. General Padlock looked at the news camera and said "Well, looks like the Men In Black are coming after me". Some laughter was heard from the crowd, but then the laughter stopped when Myers said "That is highly classified information and also highly volatile information". Mary was also extremely confused and asked "What's Operation Tick Tock?" Myers put his head in his normal hand and robotic hand, sighed, looked at the news camera being held by Lana Valines camera man and said "Operation Tick Tock was the United States Government's attempts at creating time travel". The entire crowd gasped in shock and so did the huge crowds of people, gathered in times square, watching this event unfold in shock and astonishment. Mary's jaw dropped and when it came back up again, she asked "The government tried to create time travel?" Myers sighed and said "Yes and I honestly wish we never did". Lana Valine, was as confused as her viewers and asked the President "What are the details of Operation Tick Tock?" General Padlock then said "We have the file in the command vehicle". Hunter the 2nd then said "I'll get it" and rushed of the the command vehicle. He ran through the many soldiers and civilians who were now all that made up the Free People's Army, now that the timeline had been changed, he arrived at the command vehicle and climbed up the ladder on the side of it. On top of it were about 20 or so soldiers managing the anti-air, vehicle and infantry guns on top. All of a sudden, the entry hatch flew open and the driver came out with the computer chip that contained the file and said "Thought you might need this". "Thanks" said Hunter the 2nd, as it was handed to him. He climbed down the ladder and sped back to his father. By the time he arrived, he was out of breath and had a drink from his water bottle to replenish his strength. He handed the file to General Padlock, who said "Thanks Hunter" and placed the file in the hologram projector.

The file began and the holographic image of none other than long deceased President Joe Biden appeared. The holographic image of Joe Biden then started talking and said "If you are watching this, then you are one of the people in these United States with clearance to view this information. Of all of Americas secrets, the most shameful is that of Operation Tick Tock, the United States governments attempt to create time travel" as an image of a map of Germany appeared, the ghostly hologram said "As you know, after the Second World War, Germany was split into 4 occupation zones before it was divided between East and West. But what you don't know, is that in the American zone of occupation, we made a history changing discovery". An image of a laboratory appeared and the image of Biden continued with "It turns out that during World War Two, the Nazis were trying to develop time travel technologies to kill important allied leaders in the past and failed". An image of the attempted Nazi time machine appeared, it resembled a large bell and had the Nazi Swastika on it. The holographic image then said "The machine was never finished in time and that's mainly because, one of the scientists had learnt of the Holocaust and secretly sabotaged the machine". An image of the scientist, who was none other than Dr Victor Schmitt appeared and the years "1890-1990" appeared. The image of Joe Biden then proceeded to say "We then convinced Schmitt to finish work on the machine, so that we could use it to assassinate Hitler and prevent world war Two". Many people across the word then cheered at this fact, after all, who wouldn't want to kill Hitler and save the lives of millions? The cheering then stopped when the image of Biden said "So Operation Tick Tock began, it started in California and Victor worked round the clock with the help of his son and many other scientists to create the time machine". An image of Schmitt with his son Hans and 5 other scientists then appeared. Schmitt had a completely bald head and a scar across his eye that he got while fighting in World War One. His son Hans and grandson Samuel were also present. The image was dated 1950, his son was 40 and his grandson just 7 years old.

The Image of Biden then proceeded to say "Their work was extremely hard and there were many set backs along the way, but they refused to give up until the machine was built and World War Two erased". Footage of their work then appeared on the holographic projector, they were in a lab and were debating on how to kill Hitler. the image of Biden then said "Finally in 1984, 39 years after the War, the machine was finished and we were ready to kill Hitler, but then a group of fanatic Ku Klux Klan members found out about the time machine by breaking into the pentagon and tried to steal the time machine so they could have the south win the civil war, to this day we do not know who they are and we don't know whether or not they had agents inside the project who helped them this, but we do know what happened next". A huge sense of worry then gripped the people of the world, who had been watching this event from their households via their holo-TVs. The Image of Biden then said "The Klansmen inadvertently set of a bomb that destroyed the time machine and barely escaped with their lives". An image of the destroyed lab, reduced to a smouldering wreck then appeared and gasps of shock were heard from the crowd. The image of Biden then revealed why the machine was never finished after this attack, "A year later the cult film Back to the Future came out and most of the personnel for the operation left after that". The promotional image of the film then appeared. Lana Valine, who was just as confused as everyone, then asked "How did Back to the Future cause the project to end?" The Image of Biden then said "The personnel who left, said the film had woken them up to the dangers of time travel and that if we change too much in history, we could lose our loved ones. The film Back to the Future 2 came out a few years later, in that film, Biff Tannen steals the time machine and gives a sports almanac to his younger self". A man in the crowd, that had been here the whole time, getting an eye witness account of these events, then proceeded to say "Classic time travel villainy". The Image of Biden then said "In the new, corrupted timeline, Biff was the corrupt owner of BiffCo, a corrupt corporation that he used to launder money, this made us realise that time travel was far too dangerous and we shut down Operation Tick Tock after Schmitt left". An image of the 1985a Hill Valley then appeared and so did the executive order that ended Operation Tick Tock. The Image of Biden then proceeded to finish with "We all want to change something in the past, but we cant change the past, all we can do, is hope for a better future, this is Joseph Biden, signing of".

The Image of Biden then disappeared and the holographic projector deactivated. President Andrew Myers looked at the news camera, around the world were the billions who now knew that the U.S government tried to create time travel, but stopped after realising its dangers. Myers sadly said "My fellow Americans, I am truly sorry that we kept this a secret from you, time travel is a dangerous activity, I promise that from now on, our Government shall be honest about our actions". Applause was heard from the crowd after he said this and General Padlock proceeded to say, "Now to show you all how we finished Operation Tick Tock". He then activated the memory shower and the memories began.
