Chapter Twenty Two
; Sickness

Harper was outside gardening when screams and gunshots rang off, she immediately dropped the shovel and ran inside.

"What cell block?!" She yelled to Daryl who was right by her.

"D!" He yelled back, Harper nodded and they made it to D.

She took out her gun and started shooting the walkers, she shot Patrick in the head, a boy Carl's age, Carl's friend.

One by one all of the walkers were dead, Glenn ran up to her and cupped her face.

"Are you okay?!" He asked panicked, Harper nodded, but her mind seemed to be somewhere else.

"I'm okay Glenn." She whispered than walked out of the cell.

She suddenly felt dizzy and leaned against the wall, she started dragging herself by the wall.

"Harper? You okay?" Carol asked walking up to her, Harper shook her head and went to say something but coughed. "Oh my god." Carol whispered, and that was the last thing Harper heard before she passed out.

It was a sickness from the pigs, and Harper had it, which freaked Glenn out even more, he couldn't go see her unless he had a face covering or had it himself.

Right now she was in cell block A, because someone killed Karen and David down in the tunnels but left her alive, which Glenn was thankful for.

Harper had been in and put of  consciousness, she would wake up, cough, mumbled incoherent things and pass out again.

Glenn and Hershel were in her cell with bandana's covering their faces, she was having troubles breathing.

"Hershel! She's awake again!" Glenn yelled, but when he looked back at her blood was dripping from her nose and mouth.

"I'm...sorry." She whispered before everything went black again.

Glenn freaked out and tried to find a heartbeat, there wasn't one.

"No no no. Stay with me." He started doing chess compressions, Hershel ran in the cell with a bag.

"Open her mouth!" Hershel ordered, his eyes filling with tears at the sight of his daughter.

Glenn opened her mouth and Hershel shoved a breathing tube down her throat, he started squeezing the bag, while Glenn was doing chest compressions.

"Come on Harper, don't leave me." Glenn whispered, when she opened her eyes he let out a sob of happiness. "Oh baby, don't do that again, you hear me?" He asked, Harper could only nod.

"Glenn, get out of here, she doesn't need you to get sick." Heeshel said, Glenn looked down at Harper who nodded.

"Okay." Glenn whispered, but he already knew he had it.

As soon as he stood up a wave of dizziness it him, Hershel looked up at him and shook his head.

"I'm fine-" He started coughing and wheezing. "I'll go lay down." Hr whispered before weakly walking out of the cell and to his own.

Hershel looked down at his daughter and took the tube put of her mouth, he handed her some tea which she weakly took and drank.

"Mm, elderberry." Harper whispered, Hershel smiled and nodded. "Go make sure Glenn is okay, daddy." She coughed before looking at her father. "Please." She croaked.

"Okay, stay alive. You hear me? Daryl is gonna be back soon." He said, Harper nodded and watched as he walked out.

As soon as he did she grabbed a piece of paper and started writing a letter to Glenn, she knew this sickness was gonna win, there was no way to fight it.

She than wrote one to Alexis, for when she was old enough to read it. One for Carl, her dad, than Rick.

She made them all special in her own way before falling back into the darkness.

An hour later Hershel walked in Harper's cell to check on her, she was just laying there.

Hershel panicked and checked her pulse, Nothing.

He started doing chest compressions, nothing.

"Daddy?" Maggie's voice came in the cell, she almost dropped the medicine she held. "Harper!" She cried out and crawled to her twin.

"She's unresponsive." Hershel grunted, Maggie let out a sob and looked at her dead twin.

"No no, please Harper!" Maggie cried, she held on to Harper for dear life.

"Maggie, she's gone, I need to put her down." Hershel tried to say as calmly as possible but his voice cracked.

Glenn walked weakly in the cell, his whole heart dropped when he saw her, on the ground, unresponsive.

"No no, you can't leave me!" He cried out, his knees gave up on him and he hit the ground, he crawled over to her and cradled her in his arms.

He just almost died, and he couldn't save her, now she was gone, this wasn't right, it should have been him, not her.

"Harper? Harper wake up! Wake up please!" He sobbed, his whole body shaking as he cried. "No! Wake up! Baby, please wake up!" He let out a heart wrenching sob, Maggie held a hand over her mouth as she watched her sisters husband mourn over her dead body.

"Glenn, I need to put her down before she turns." Hershel whispered sadly, Glenn shook his head and continued sobbing.

"No, please, wake up! Don't leave me! I can't do this without you! Harper!" His sobs got louder, his own throat hurt but he couldn't stop.

"Is she dead?" A small voice asked, Hershel turned to see Lizzie, she slowly approached them.

Maggie let out another sob and held her sisters hand, Lizzie sat down and put a hand on her back.

"Dont worry, she'll come back." Lizzid whispered looking at Harper.

"Please Harper." Glenn whispered, he held his breath as they waited in silence.

"G-glenn." Harper stuttered out, Glenn let out a sob and held her tightly, Hershel pulled her from his arms and forced pills down her throat.

He massaged them down her throat, she had tears running down her face, he than had to put the breathing tube back down her throat.

"Please don't leave me." Glenn whispered, he held her hand tightly. "I love you, I love you so much." He repeated and kissed her head.

She squeezed his hand three times and gave him a weak smile before passing out again.
