Twenty Six

Chapter Twenty Six
; Promise

The day that the group got to the church some of them went on a run with Gabriel, Harper knew why they didn't trust him, but they really didn't need to take him.

Glenn stayed back so he could hand out with his wife and daughter, they were all sitting on the ground making faces and laughing.

"I missed you so much Alex." Harper whispered, she picked up her baby and kissed her cheek.

"I was going crazy without you Harper. I can't leave you and you can't leave me. Promise me you'll never leave me." Glenn said, he scooted closer to her and cupped her face.

"I've told you this before, I'll tell you it one more time, I'm not leaving unless you ask me to." Harper whispered, Glenn shook his head.

"Promise me, you'll never leave me." He whispered, Harper nodded.

"I promise I'll never leave you." She whispered, Glenn sighed in relief and kissed her quickly.

After the group came back they all had a feast, Harper sat with Glenn and had Alexis in her lap, she was feeding Alexis pea's.

"I'd like to propose a toast, to the survivors!" Abraham says, Harper holds up her glass.

"To the survivors!" They all repeat.

"Thats what you want to be right? Come with us to Washington, help us save the world, what's in Washington Eugene?" Abraham asked, everyone's eyes landed on Eugene.

"Infrastructure constructed to withstand pandemics even of this fubar magnitude. That means food, water refuge." Eugene said, Harper smiled and looked at Glenn, who already had his eyes focused on her.

"Restart. However this plays out, however long it takes for the reset button to kick in, you can be safe there. Safer than you've been since this whole thing started. Come with us. Save the world for those little ones. Save it for your selves.Save it for the people out there... who don't got nothing left to do except survive." Abraham says, everyone looks at Rick.

Judith coos happily, everyone laughs. "What was that?" Rick asks, Judith coos again. "Well, you heard her, if she's in I'm in, we're all in!" Rick says, everyone cheers.

"Glenn?" Harper whispers, Glenn turns his head to look at her. "Do you believe Eugene?" She asks, Harper wants to belive it, for her, her kid, Glenn, but she doesn't know.

"I don't know, do you?" He asks, Harper turns her body to face him.

"I want to, for us, for our baby, but I can't seem to believe it. It's been a year since this started, how does it take three people a year to get to Washington? I want to believe it Glenn, for Alexis, Judith, Carl, I want to but I can't." Haroer explains, Glenn nods in understanding.

"I want to belive it too. For our family, I want to belive that he knows a cure, so you, me and Alexis can live a normal happy life." Glenn says, Harper sighs and looks at the sleeping baby in her arms.

"Lets get to bed, I'm tired." Harper says, her and Glenn clean up their mess, she walks to her bag and pulls out a small blanket that she uses to make a bed for Alexis before laying her head on Glenn's chest.
