Food and Weapons

"What do we do now?" Shiro asked "Well, we need to get food and water, the tap water may have zombie blood in it so we can't drink it just in case" Tom said "We also need to make this place safer" Shannon said "We have cans of food in the cupboard, but we should get bottles of water or cans of drink, portable stuff though, in case we have to move." I said. "Do you have anything better we could use as weapons Kayleb?" Jess asked "Umm, I go check the garage, while I'm gone can you please fill as many water bottles with water from the cooler as possible, and put all the canned food on the bench and try to keep quiet, we don't want to attract attention to ourselves". With that I walked into the garage. I had an idea as to where some possible weapons so I began searching, I eventually found two hatchets, a shovel, a sledge hammer, a nail gun and a crowbar. I couldn't carry it all in at once so I did it in shifts, first the hatchets, then the sledge hammer, then the shovel and crowbar and finally the nail gun, I also found a small pair of binoculars and put them in my pocket.

I brought the weapons into the house and put them on the floor of the lounge. "Okay, how much food do we have?" I asked "We have enough food for 3 days if we have one can a day each" Shae said "Ok, so we are going to need more food, how about water?" I asked "We have 2 bottles of water each, and we found 2 cans of Coke" Jess said "What weapons do we have?" Shannon asked "We have 2 axes, a sledgehammer, a shovel, a crowbar, a nail gun and this" I said pulling out the revolver, "We need to take a trip to the super market I guess, but not today, it's been too big a day. We can sleep here tonight, the zombies shouldn't notice as long as we keep quiet" I said "We should sleep in the lounge, can I have some help moving some mattresses, there are some sleeping bags in the cupboard in the laundry" Shiro and Tom came with me to help pull out some mattresses while Shannon grabbed out sleeping bags. We pulled the mattresses from Elly's, Amanda's and my bed and moved them into the lounge.

 It was only about 4 o'clock when we got to my house, and it was now about 5:30 "We should see whether the news in on" Shae said "Good idea, maybe we can find out what caused all this" Jess said I grabbed the remote and turned on the TV, repeatedly pressing the mute button so that once it turned on it would mute, but there was no need. The TV turned on but there were no channels working, I flicked through them, hoping for something but we were just met with a series of plain, blue screens. I clicked the TV off and let out a loud sigh "Nothing" I said quietly "Maybe the internet?" Tom said. I went at sat at the computer desk, moved the mouse slightly and looked in the bottom right corner, there was no internet connection at all "Nothing again, any other ideas?" I asked "There is one, what about the radio?" Shannon said. I turned down the volume almost completely. At first there was no noise at all, I flicked through the FM stations and got nothing before switching it to the AM stations. I was about halfway through the frequency line before managing to get a faint signal, everyone in the room held their breath and listened intently. It wasn't a normal radio presenter as far as I could tell, he sounded panicked, like everyone else still alive. He was shouting loudly, somewhere in the background I could hear banging. "Attention all survivors, there is no hope, there are no safe place, the prime minister is dead." The banging stopped "For those of you not willing to give up hope, best of luck, for the rest of you, may you find peace in the afterlife" Then a loud bang was heard over the radio and then silence.

 "I regret suggesting the radio" Shannon said jokingly "That was depressing" Shae said "What if he is right, what if there is no hope?" Shiro said quietly "I can't think that, I have to hope that there is possibility to survive, I don't want to die at 16 and I doubt that any of you want to die yet either." I said. Everyone looked at the ground and gave a look of 'No, not really'. "So we will find somewhere to live and wait for this thing to end but right now we need food and water, but that is something for tomorrow, let's have something to eat."

 We had a meal of canned food, Jess and Tom had cans of tuna, Shiro and Shae had baked beans and Shannon and I had spaghetti at about 9 o'clock. "Ok, seeing as we are going on a food run tomorrow, we should decide what weapon we each want." "I'll take the sledgehammer" Tom said "Can I have the crowbar?" Shannon asked "I want an axe please" Shiro said "I'll have the shovel" I said "I'll take the other axe, Shae you can have the nail gun" Jess said "Ok, awesome!" Shae said "What are we going to do with the gun?" Shiro asked "We should only use it in emergencies, it will make a lot of noise and will bring even more zombies to the sound", "When we go to the super market, how are we going to get the food and water back?" Shannon asked "We could use our school bags if we emptied them" Tom said, "Good idea Tom". "Ok, so we have a plan, go to the supermarket, fill our bags with food and water and leave and come back here" Shae said "Ensure, that you only grab canned food it can last longer than other food" Jess said. "We'll leave early tomorrow, that way we can secure the house for the rest of the day, but for now, I really need to sleep". Everyone climbed into their sleeping bags, I pulled out my iPod, put my headphones and set an alarm for 6:30.
