There were so many people talking at once that it was hard to hear myself think, so I just sat there enjoying the food because it was good as fuck by the time I finished my third plate, I started watching everyone that was at the table. Elijah and Duron seemed to be having a silent argument, I wasn't entirely sure what that was about but if Elijah wanted me to know I'm sure I'd be hearing about it, Luka was staring at his dude like he was about the swipe everything off the table and fuck him in front of all of us, Terico was listening to Emmanuel and Roy argue about sports... at least that's what it seemed like to the untrained eye but I noticed Terico's hand hadn't left Brittney's lap since we sat down. Serenity was having a conversation with Elijah's grandma and stepmom and Niño was talking to Mateo, the only person who wasn't engaging with anyone was Sammy... he just sat there playing with his food and sulking. I needed to see what was up with my dude because this definitely wasn't like him, something was on his mind and I would be a bad boyfriend if I didn't at least pull him to the side and see what was going on. We got outside and it was damn near freezing but Sammy didn't seem to notice, his mind was definitely somewhere else.

"Come on Sammy, the food can't be that bad to have you sulking like this...." I said trying to lighten the mood, he kinda smiled but then he retreated back into his thoughts. "Is everything alright? I know when we talked last night you seemed to be in a good ass mood but then today.... it just seems like you're over everything.

"Look, my bad... it's just the argument I had with my brother is really fuckin with me. Russ is a good dude for the most part but sometimes he likes to believe that he's wiser than everyone else around him. He... thinks because he's older than me by a couple of weeks that gives him the right to order me around but that shyt don't fly with me." Sammy said and I was curious as to the nature of their argument but if he wanted me to know he would tell me.

"Well I don't have any siblings.... but I did grow up with two crazy ass best friends who were like my brothers, siblings fight sometimes but at the end of the day y'all will forget what y'all were even arguing about, I wouldn't sweat it if I were you." I said quietly.

"Maybe you're right, I appreciate you coming out here and checking on me, I'll try to cheer up and engage with y'all a little more." Sammy said and I pulled out a blunt. "What? You're smoking, I thought you wanted to be clear-headed for that tournament y'all got coming up." He said smiling as I passed him the blunt.

"Yeah, well it's Christmas... I don't see anything wrong with indulging for one night." I said watching as he hit the blunt a few times before passing it back to me. When we got back into the house, we were both feeling a lot better, I was ready to start eating again but I also noticed Elijah was trying to spark a conversation with his stepbrother who wasn't trying to hear it. "You want me to shake him down?" I asked.

"No... Quran is a good kid he's just missing his boyfriend and he much rather be down in Atlanta right now. For the most part he's really sweet.... when he wants to be." Elijah said looking over at his dad and his new wife who was close to popping. "Another sister.... she's definitely going to be spoiled, between me, Emmanuel, Quran, and my dad.... she's not going to want for nothing." Elijah said.

"So you've made up your mind about the move? You're turning it down?" I asked and Elijah nodded. "I gotta say, I'm kinda surprised... I thought for sure you would've given it some more thought but you seem sure that you wanna stay here."

"Everything just seems to be telling me to stay... my dad getting married, Serenity and Roy having a baby, things with Duron couldn't be better..." Elijah said and that last part seemed a little sarcastic.

"Is he cheating again?" I whispered and Elijah quickly shook his head. "Then why'd you say it like that? You made it seem like he was getting on your nerves or something, unless I'm misinterpreting your tone."
