The hardest part about being a coach was being a therapist as well, to be honest, I wasn't that much older than these kids... hell I was a senior when my current seniors were freshmen but this is what I signed up for so I knew I couldn't complain. Khris told me how he had discovered the messages between Irvin and the dude from the camp, honestly, Irvin was a smart kid but he definitely made a dumb move. Like what was he thinking, logging on to his social media from Khris's phone? Nevermind I'm not here to judge, I listened to Khris tell me about how he wanted to try to work things out because he wasn't 'a quitter' but his feelings weren't the same especially after reading those messages. So here's where he was torn he could either force himself to stay in a relationship where he knew the other person didn't feel the same about as he felt about them, or he can end things now and deal with his first real heartbreak..... This was a delicate situation from where I sat because their dynamics on the basketball court was the engine for our team and if I said the wrong thing it could fuck up everything, plus Khris was like my little bro and I wanted to help him make the right choice.
"That nigga is already gone... leave his ass, ain't no point in saying in a relationship where you're not happy and he's emotionally cheating." Jamarious said walking in from the kitchen. "Yeah I heard the whole conversation and Jaire is going to give you the politically correct answer, I'm going to give it to you straight no chaser.... break up with that nigga. You're young and attractive I'm sure you'll find someone else.... you eighteen?" Jamarious asked and I jumped up and ushered him out of the living room.
"Khris ignore him, that's my cousin Jamarious and he's few cards short of a full deck." I said as I watched Jamarious walked around to the side of the house and I knew he was going to the back door.
"But is he right? I've always been taught that emotionally cheating is worse than physically cheating. From their messages Irvin was telling him shyt about our relationship, he was telling that dude shyt about me......" Khris said quietly.
"Man listen, that tells me that your boy is definitely getting dicked down by that nigga or he has..... and if they haven't fucked he definitely got his dick sucked or ass ate. Your boy cheated more than just emotionally he cheated physically, I'm willing to bet if you go through your dude's phones he got some dick pics that definitely don't belong to you." Jamarious said and I knew I should've locked the back door. "Jaire you know I'm telling the truth, don't lie to the kid."
"Irvin is a good kid, I don't believe that he'd cheat... physically. Khris let me talk to Irvin before for making any decision, I'm sure there's a logical explanation for everything that's been going on." I said and Khris nodded and got up. "I'll see you at school tomorrow." I said walking him to the door and once he was gone I turned to Jamarious who was peeling an orange. "Why would you tell him that shyt?" I asked irritated.
"Nah the question is why would you lie to him like that? You know the signs Jaire, and just because someone is a 'good kid' doesn't mean they can't get turned out by a hood nigga, especially a hood nigga that plays sports. Do you know how many niggas I done fucked who already had dudes? A lot.... and the good dudes were the biggest freaks, they love a nigga that's going to dick them down properly in private and act like they don't know public. Now to the most important question... is that nigga Khris eighteen because he's a little cutie and I have no problem helping him get over his future ex." Jamarious said and I decided not to entertain his stupid ass question because how would it look for my cousin to be fuckin my ex's little brother? Somehow I know I would be the one who ended up looking like the bad guy.
"Daddy... I need help!" Halo yelled from upstairs and I quickly ran to see what he had done, thankfully it was just that he had toothpaste all over his bathroom... honestly, it could've been something a lot worse. Once I took care of him I walked back downstairs where Jamarious was standing at the door.
