A R A B E L L A ' S P.O.VI slammed my hand hard against the door, pleading for the steel to come unlocked but alas it was no avail. Panting heavy for oxygen, I turned and slumped back against it.
I was trapped. No way out...then again, there was no way in either.
All the prisoners were locked up so technically I was safe. In fact, I could even use this opportunity to talk to Clarissa some more.
Just as I was about to wander off into the dark depths of the dungeons again, I heard a noise. No...more of a scream.
"Are you sure she's here?" One of the voices bellowed, with no resounding care whatsoever.
The other shushed them angrily. "Shut the fuck up, and yes...Lionel hacked into the security system. She's down here."
Heavy footsteps got louder as they approached me fast. I had to be the person they were talking about which made them the dangerous intruder who probably had the intent to murder me.
I dashed into the darkness, running straight towards Clarissa's cell again. My foot slid across something wet, and I grimaced as I pulled myself back up.
I did not want to know what that was.
The cell was easily recognisable now, thanks to the large dent in one of the bars, that definitely needed fixing. Clarissa was huddled up in the corner, her cloak strewn over her shoulder, and her entire body shaking.
I instantly felt sorry for her, horrible for either contemplating leaving her in this condition. Her head lifted up, as I walked closer towards the cell, her eyes clouded over with confusion.
Then bang!
An explosion rocked through the dungeons, silencing every prisoner. The voices got louder, closer, and there were more of them now. All were deep and masculine, at least four but there could be more of them.
Terror stuck me hard, my body becoming an immobile statue. Clarissa ran towards me, her hands grabbing the bars. "Unlock the cell, and get in."
I deliberated the thought for a moment. Clarissa could be tricking me, an hour of conversation did not make up for a lifetime of absence but it was the safest place for me right now...me and the baby.
Running over to the key pad, I pressed my hand against the beeper, my foot tapping on the floor with every long second it took until it finally flashed green.
I pulled the cell open, careful not to make a loud creaking sound but the hinges were old and rusty so I could only quieten it so much. Clarissa yanked me in and then slammed the door shut again. I winced as the loud noise, reverberated throughout the whole structure and then everything fell silent.
"I think our Queen is here." A loud taunting voice called out, the sharpening of an axe grinding in the distance.
I immediately hid behind Clarissa and she wrapped her arms around me, her eyes frantically searching the room. "There," She whispered, before shoving me under the bed. I crawled underneath, gripping the old springs sticking out the bed.
Someone squelch under my back and I could feel a spider scuttling over my bare leg but still I kept silent. "Let me out! Please let me out!" I heard a desperate prisoner scream, right before a bullet was fired.
