{ Payton }

I groaned as my alarm blared, pulling me from my sleep. But my annoyance didn't last long because I realized it was the first day of school and I was actually kind of excited. I wasn't going on not knowing anyone like I usually do. I actually know a few people this time. 

I rolled out of bed and walked over to my closet, opening it up to choose clothes for the day. I settled on ripped jeans, a white shirt, and my white Vans. After quickly changing, I walked into my bathroom, brushing my teeth and hair. I put on some makeup then smiled at myself.

I was ready.

I grabbed my backpack, phone, and keys, then walked downstairs, finding Jude and Evan getting their pictures taken by Mom,

"Oh good!" She grinned, "Go stand with your brothers"

I walked over and stood between my little brothers as they both hugged me for the picture,

"Alright. I think you've got enough" Dad stepped in with a laugh, "Pay, you want to take the twins to school?"

I nodded gladly. I always take Evan and Jude on their first day,

"We'll stop and get donuts in the way" I leaned down and whispered in my brothers' ears, getting a cheer.

I pulled into the drop-off line at my brothers' elementary school. They had both finished their donuts and were ready to go into school,

"Bye Payton!" Evan called hopping out and running right in. Jude lingered,

"Bye Payton" he leaned over into the front seat, hugging me,

"Have a good day" I smiled,

"You too" he giggled and hopped out, slamming the back door shut and walking in.

I quickly made my way to my school, pulling into the parking spot designated for me. I was pretty early still so I grabbed my phone and scrolled through Instagram while sipping on my iced coffee.

From the corner of my eye, I saw a vehicle pull into the spot on the passenger's side, making me look towards it. I smiled when I saw it was Ashton. He grinned and waved just as I saw a car pull in on my driver's side. I looked at it and waved once I saw it was Grace.

They both got out, so I took that as my cue to get out as well, tossing my backpack on my back,

"How did we get so lucky to be in spots next to each other" Grace smiled as he hugged me,

"Cal, Luke, and Mike are in the other lot" Ashton laughed then hugged me, "They said they'd meet us by the lockers"

Grace and I nodded and the three of us began walking into school.

We approached where mine and Grace's lockers were, seeing the three boys waiting. Calum hugged Grace tightly and pecked her lips, causing Michael to make a comment,

"First day of school! You ready Payton?" Luke grinned,

"I think so. This is definitely going to be one of the easier first days since I already know some people" I laughed,

"I couldn't imagine being the new kid that much" Calum shook his head,

"It's worse when it's in the middle of the school year. Starting the year new is easier" I shrugged just as the warning bell rang,

"Ready for English?" Ashton asked, guiding me down the hall while Luke followed since he had the class with us.

We walked into the classroom and took seats near the back. Luke sat on my right and Ashton sat behind me.

An older man, the teacher I presume, walked in and tossed his things on the desk,

"Good morning class!" his voice boomed, "I'm Mr. Lee. We're getting right into it so pull out your literature books and start reading the chapter on criticism"

The whole class groaned and we all got our books out,

"I thought it was supposed to be syllabus day" Luke whined, making me laugh and start reading and highlighting in my book,

"Nerd" I heard Ashton laugh, making me turn around to see him doing the same thing. I knew he was just playing around.

Lunch finally rolled around and I made my way to the cafeteria with Michael and Grace since we had Anatomy together just before,

"Did you bring your lunch or are you buying?" Grace asked,

"Uh, I'm buying" I nodded,

"You can come with me then" Michael smiled. I smiled back and followed him into the lunch line.

Michael handed me a tray then grabbed one for himself. He got pizza and fruit while I got a wrap and fruit. We both paid and then went to a lunch table where everyone else already sat.

Ashton pulled out the seat between him and Calum and let me sit down. Michael sat directly across from me, Grace on his left across from a Calum, and Luke on his right across from Ashton.

"So Payton" Michael spoke, "Everyone's coming to mine Saturday to hang out and stay the night. We'd like it if you came. You don't have to stay the night if your uncomfortable"

"That sounds like fun" I smiled,

"Thank God!" Grace cheered, "I'm finally not going to be the only girl"

"Cool! I'll text you my address later" Michael smiled,

"Whereabouts did you move too?" Calum asked,

"The streets called Canyon Drive"

Luke gasped,

"No way! I live two streets over! I live on Stone Ave" Luke told me,

"I have no clue where that is" I laughed,

"I figured" he chuckled.

We continued talking right up until the bell rang,

"Second half of the day. Let's go!" Calum cheered as we all left the lunchroom.

The school day ended and I walked out to the parking lot with Ashton. Grace was still talking to Calum and told us to not wait.

"Did you have a good first day?" Ashton lightly nudged my arm, making me look up at him. He was smiling bright, dimples popping out on his cheeks, his eyes also shining,

"I did" I nodded, "You all helped make it good too"

"We're glad to help" he smiled as we rounded my car,

"I'll see you bright and early in the morning!" Ashton cheesed, hugging me.

Every time he hugs me my stomach flutters and I can feel myself flush. Ashton's definitely a cutie and I know I have an attraction to him already, but we just met and I highly doubt he likes me too,

"I'll see you bright and early in the morning"
