"Mmmmm!" I moan, tapping my feet onto the floor. "This...uh...good! Much good!"
"Please...stick to English." Tsukishima says in a teasing manner and I roll my eyes.
"This is the best cake I've ever had. It's so good! So this is why you and Yamaguchi-Kun were coming all the way over here? Just for cake?"
"Yeah. It's my favorite place." Tsukishima says.
"Tell her we come here often because you like it so much." Yamaguchi nudges his friend, a light laugh passing his lips.
"Shut up Yamaguchi." Tsukishima sighs. "If you got better in English then I wouldn't have to tell her things for you."
"I'm studying! But it's just hard." Yamaguchi whines. "Sorry Tsukki"
Suki. Is that a word or his nickname?
"Suki." I hum. "Suki Kei. Or Kei Suki?" I giggle, trying to use the nickname as well.
When I look up at the two boys I freeze. Both of them are just staring at me, shocked.
"Did she just...?"
"No, she's confused. Shut up!" Tsukishima scolds his friend.
"A-Ah, did I say something offensive?" I ask worriedly, my eyes widening. Tsukishima's cheeks turn red and he looks away, frowning.
"Yamaguchi, tell her how to say it properly. Then tell her not to say it at all." Tsukishima grumbles.
"Eh?! But I suck at English!" Yamaguchi says, but Tsukishima doesn't look at him.
I confusedly look between the two of them, not knowing what's going on. Yamaguchi clears his throat, leaning forward.
"E-Eva-San?" He gulps. He sounds super nervous.
"Yes, Yamaguchi-Kun?"
"I know Kei...ah...long years? Yes. I call him Tsukki. He...like...uh no. He not like other people call him Tsukki." Yamaguchi stumbles over his words.
Wow...he looks way more nervous now.
I chuckle a bit, reaching my arms over the table and putting my hands on his.
"You can do it!" I recite a phrase my mother taught me, giving an encouraging smile.
His eyes brighten and a soft pink dusts his cheeks.
"A-Anyways. You say 'Suki'. That different word. Tsu for Tsukki has T S U. Su like you say is only S U. The suki you say mean like. Or to like. Your sentence kind of broken...but it kind of sound like a confession to Tsukki! So...don't do that. My Tsukki." Yamaguchi finishes his thoughts and my eyes widen.
I really need to study Japanese now before I accidentally confess to someone else.
"Wait, he said that wrong. We aren't gay. I don't know what he meant by 'my tsukki'." Tsukishima finally speaks up.
"Hey! Gay or not you're still my best friend, so you're mine! I won't let you get a girlfriend and have her take you away!" Yamaguchi crosses his arms.
"Literally just be quiet." Tsukishima groans. "I'm not dating anyone nor do I plan to."
"That's right." Yamaguchi huffs out a breath.
"Um, I'm sorry. I didn't mean for things to get awkward. I will only call you Tsukishima then." I look at the blonde guy in embarrassment.
He just nods, not saying anything.
