"Has he grown? Do you think he's way taller than me now?" I ask Ena, laughing."I don't know, we've only written each other and sent selfies while he wasn't serving." She shrugs, holding the sign up a bit higher. "Make it straight." She mumbles to me.
I hold my end of the sign up as she does and I look at it.
'Welcome home Kai Ekin' is written on it, decorated by Ena and I.
Her brother, the Kai-San I ran into at the train station all those years ago, is finally coming home today.
Right after high school he went overseas to New York. He did a few years of college before dropping out and enlisting in their country's army. Because his sister and I got so close in high school, and because we were all the same age, I was fairly close with him as well. We didn't keep in touch after graduating, but when Ena mentioned me in her letters, he made sure to greet me and asked how I was- seriously expecting me to give him an honest answer.
The door handle jiggles and Ena's eyes widen.
"Shut up! He's here!" She whisper yells to me.
I wasn't even...okay.
As soon as Kai walks through the door, I shout the recited line Ena had me repeat over and over.
"WELCOME HOME EKIN-KUN!"
Oh. This is definitely not Kai.
Kai was kind of short and thin. This man is taller than me, and ripped as fuck.
"EKIN-CHAN!" Ena screams, tears bursting out of her eyes as she lets go of the poster before running to hug her brother.
I pick up her end of the poster, gently placing it down on the living room couch before walking back.
"And Eva-Chan! What a nice surprise!" He beams, walking over to me.
"Welcome home, Ekkun." I grin, giving him a short hug. "You look great!" I stare at him in awe.
"A-Ah, really? Thank you Eva-Chan, it means a lot coming from you." He bites his lip, a light blush coming over his cheeks.
"Gross! Stop flirting with her, she doesn't care about you like that!" Ena shouts, hitting the back of his head.
I take a few steps back, awkwardly chuckling as I watch the two.
"I can't help it, Ena! Shes the girl I've liked since high school."

"Oh, Tsuma. You're back already?" Kei asks as I walk into our study room where he and Tadashi are doing homework.
"Mm. I left early." I say, taking a seat on the other side of him.
"Why?" He asks, not glancing up at me.
"I was tired." I admit.
I had gotten there really early and we prepared every single one of Kai's favorite dishes. Then we decorated the house with 'welcome home' things, and also made a poster.
"Anything interesting happen?" He asks and I lay my head down on the desk.
"Hmm, no? Kai confessed to me though."
Kei's pencil stops writing, and so does Tadashi's. He looks over at me, no emotion on his face.
"What did you say?" He asks.
My eyebrows furrow in confusion for a moment.
Does he seriously not know what I'd say to that...?
