"I can't believe my parents are finally married." I sigh, collapsing onto my bed."Come back. We're not done studying." Tsukishima says from the desk in my room.
"Let's take a break." I suggest and he shakes his head.
"Stop speaking in English. You're only allowed to talk in Japanese." He narrows his eyes.
I scrunch my face up, groaning as I get back up and sit on the chair next to him.
"Teach me love words!" I exclaim, getting a new piece of paper with a small giggle. "Uh...for one day confesh feelings to super sexy hot boy." I wiggle my eyebrows and he looks at me in disgust.
"Why do you only know the weirdest words?" He scoffs. "And you have feelings you want to confess? To who?"
I blink a little at him and he sighs.
"You like someone?" He asks in English and I quickly shake my head.
"Just in case!" I say quickly.
"Just in case a sexy, hot guy crossed paths with you?" He raises an eyebrow, sounding annoyed.
"That was joke! Supposed to funny!" I pout, but he just rolls his eyes.
"It wasn't funny at all." He says. "I'm not going to teach you those useless words. Let's keep studying."
Useless words.
So he doesn't want to date anyone? I don't know why, but it feels like he just rejected me. Even though he has no idea of my feelings, it sort of hurts?
A small frown comes over my lips and he notices my change in mood.
"I-I just meant they're useless because if I was a guy and had a crush on someone I'd want to be the one to ask her out, n-not the other way around. I'm not saying it's useless because-"
"Tsukishima-Kun, please slow down. I can't understand you when you talk that fast." I put my hands on his arm. "All I got was you saying if you were a guy, then something. Are you not a guy?" I ask, chuckling a bit.
His eyes widen a little and I see his cheeks turn red. He looks down at my hands on his arm, and before I can move them he takes one of my hands and laces it with his.
Warmth fills my body- mostly my cheeks, and I look up at him in surprise.
"Eva-San...I'll ask again. Do you like anyone?" Tsukishima asks, rubbing his thumb against the back of my hand.
Okay. Okay. I'm totally not about to explode right now. Definitely not.
I open my mouth to say something but my phone rings, making me jump and pulling me out of the trance.
Tsukishima pulls his hands away from me and turns the other way. I look at him for a moment before quickly grabbing my phone, accepting the FaceTime call from my parents.
"Hello?" I set the phone down against the mirror that is connected to my desk.
"Eva! Are you doing okay? Are you lonely?" My dad asks, making sure he has my mother in the frame as well.
The two of them are dressed up nicely, my mother laying against my father's chest, her arms wrapped around him and looking the happiest I've seen her in a long time. My father has one arm wrapped around her, holding her to him while his other hand is on the phone.
"I'm fine. Tsukishima-Kun is helping me study, so I'm not lonely." I smile.
Just then, Tsukishima scoots into frame and greets my parents.
