I follow Lee out of the car into the business district and look around with wide eyes.
"We operate a series of tattoo parlors, bars, clubs and restaurants around the area. Today we are doing regular inspections." Lee explains as he leads the way into the darkened bar.
"where not, Oh it's you young master." The barman starts to shout before noticing that it was Lee in the front.
"Any problems?" Lee asks as he looks around the area. It was less cocktail bar and more sports bar or maybe biker bar in design. With scared wood along the bar and rough high tables. No booths around the edges and a focus on pool tables rather than any open areas. Two dart boards were set apart at the far edge of the room.
As Lee began to talk shop with the manager I walk over to the dark boards. A brief look around and I discover a set of darts in the box at the base of one of the boards. I glance back over my shoulder and fine Lee still preoccupied. Thus with a shrug to myself I move back to the line and toss one of the darts at the board. It thunk into the wood on the outside and I wince.
Surreptitiously I look around but Lee is steep deep in conversation while Kain is examining the edges of the window and talking to another staff member with a cleaning cloth. Lastly, Adrianna and the other guard and standing watch by the door while keeping sharp eyes on the other entrances to the area.
Few, no one saw. I re-weigh the dart in my hand and toss again. This time it lands solidly in the 6 zone. I wrinkle my nose before I toss the last one which hits the metal frame and slides into triple 5. I mutter under my breath as I walk over and collect the darts. Returning to the line I try again this time scoring a double 7, a 9, and a 15.
I continue to toss darts, collect darts and toss again over and over until I finally manage to score a triple 20, 25 and a bullseye. I give myself a little fist pump in success and then almost jump out of my skin when a kiss brushes against my collar bone. Arms flailing I spin round only for Lee to catch my arms and pin them to my side.
"Well done." Lee says as he chuckles at my expression. I scrunch my nose and poke my tongue out at him as I wiggle my arms to be let loose.
"You could have just called to say you were ready." I mutter.
"I did. You didn't notice so I went and did my other checks. We now only have one restaurant to go." Lee responds with another chuckle. I feel my cheeks heat. I didn't think I was that focused.
"You probably didn't speak loud enough." I say as Lee releases my arms and I turn away.
"Hmm, I don't know I'm getting quite fond of my way of getting your attention." Lee responds before dropping another kiss on my head and leading the way back out of the bar. As I leave I notice the bar staff glancing at me before turning away with smiles.
What's so funny? Grr. Must be because this body is the cute type.
I quicken my steps to reach Lee's side to ask. "What do you need to do at the restaurant?"
"We'll have lunch, and I'll talk to the manager. You can eat while that's happening." Lee responds as he holds the door and ushers me into the Sweet Shadows. In contrast to the bar the restaurant was very high end and without a word the hostess directs us up to a separate private room.
When we enter the room I wish for sunglasses as I'm almost blinded by the excess of glass, crystal and mirror's in the room. This taste.... Is a bit unique.
"it is designed to prevent anyone from doing anything sneaky, while meetings are happening. Not even a mage can do something subtly with this amount of reflective surfaces." Lee explains in response to my no doubt stunned expression.
