I got ready quickly that morning, and went down to eat. My mom nearly jumped out of her seat when she saw me. She looked like she was going to panic.
"Um, I'm sorry I didn't remember to wake you up, I spaced out. Honey, can you not make any plans with Macy and Sam until later, I need to talk to you and Jazzy," she told me.
"Yeah, sure. Is it bad?" I asked.
"No, no, um." She quickly stopped saying that, probably realizing it was. "Not really, it depends on your outlook." Now she had me wondering.
"Well then, you want positive outlooks, now you know about Jazzy and Stacy I don't know if you could faze her mood." This was weird. My mom never had to talk to us before, it was always oh you already know. Our sex talk was, 'You know how babies work? Yes, that kid on the playground was right!'
Almost everything was an open book. Wait. It wasn't a divorce, right? No, her and dad love each other way too much, and everything they did just screamed lovers. It was quite adorable in my opinion, but Jasmine didn't think so. Her reaction to our parents entertained me, so I don't care what they do.
I grabbed some pop-tarts and set my bag down watching my little sister in shorts and a cami, her pajamas, come down stairs. I looked at mom having a silent argument as she mouthed, you tell her, and I retorted with an, I'm not here to kill our dreams.
"So mom, what was it you wanted to tell us?" I did it so she would shut up.
"Take a seat Jasmine." She did what she was told looking at us both weird.
"Don't give me that look, I don't have a friggin clue what she's up to," I snapped making my mother growl and chuckle. Yes she growled, but she only did it when she was angry or being playful. It was kinda weird but I grew up with it so even I did it sometimes. Checking her phone she looked relieved and I hoped that was someone telling her she is insane.
"Well, actually I just got a message from your father, and he wants to be here when I tell you," she explained.
"So we have to wait eight friggin hours now that you have us wondering? You're pregnant again," Jasmine groaned. My mother laughed shaking her head.
"Sam is on his way to save me from your craziness. Peace." I just walked away, actually wanting to know if it had anything to do with what she said last night. Everyone was being weird, and that new boy had me at the edge of my seat even though I was participating in the show. I heard the honk of Sam's horn and saw Macy leaning over to do it. I rushed from the house and jumped into the backseat.
"Yay, to the Mall!" Macy shouted. It was our Saturday thing. Mall for awhile and then the movies. I leaned over the seat and kissed Macy's cheek.
"Girl, you have no idea what you guys just saved me from." I giggled looking at Sam's jealous face. "My mom was going crazy, and Sam are you jealous that I'm getting more action then you?"
"No, I'm jelly that you didn't give me a kiss," he said and I sighed and kissed his cheek, and he responded by moving his face away. "Ewww. Gross cooties."
"Boy, you dis my best friend one more time I am going to make sure you catch those cooties, and then you'll be unable to drive." Everyone knew Sam had an obsession with driving, and I just laughed.
"I'll accept that challenge. Birdy in the back, you have a hot best friend."
"I don't know if that was a dis," I answered him.
"And she's kinda crazy." Suddenly they were kissing and I was rolling my eyes.
"Guuuyyyyysss, I need to survive, SAM! Eyes on the road!" They pulled apart and I just messed around on my phone until we arrived at the mall. When we got out we went and invaded the place and got a few clothing items but nothing much. Over time it has accumulated plus actual shopping sprees. Our closets are practically exploding.
"Hey, Kaitlyn it's your boyfriend," Macy whined in my ear giggling, as we left a cute vintage shop. I looked up and saw Devon talking to some girl, and I immediately felt jealous. Like I wanted to tear apart this girl. I tensed and backed away wanting to avoid him at all costs but unfortunately he spun around and saw me. I could see the smile on his lips from here and I instantly forgave him without even remembering why I was mad at him. I felt a smile grow on my face and waved at him. I saw the girl he was talking to look pissed, he had left her in his dust. I'll just assume she was trying to get his number and he turned it down.
"Hey, you're the guys from lunch. Sam, Macy and Kaitlyn right?" I just nodded feeling as if butterflies were trying to escape my stomach when he said my name.
"Yeah, Devon right?" I could smell him from five feet away and let me tell you his scent is enough to make you drool. I heard Macy laugh but didn't bother turning around. I knew I was staring, but couldn't stop myself.
"Yep, um I don't know how to tell you this so I'll just go out and say it." He murdered me by taking another step towards me. I just nodded like an idiot.
"Yes?" I managed to choke out. I tried focusing on catching my breath, but it only got worse as this boy stepped closer and closer my whole body got hot when he touched my chin. My heart beat intensified and I barely registered what he said next.
"Your friend's ditched you," he whispered in my ear, and his voice was as smooth as honey. It sent chills to calm the flames his touch was causing.
"Oh," I sighed. Then I finally registered what he said. "Oh! Meanies! They were my ride home. Plus I wanted to watch that movie!" I had to take a step back to say that. My cheeks burned with embarrassment.
"Well in that case. Would you like to go watch 'that movie' with me?" He asked.
"Devon I don't even know you. You could be a serial killer." I don't know how my rationality was speaking through all the emotions flooding through me. Why in the world are there emotions flooding through me?! I know nothing of this boy!
"True, but I am not and don't you think it would be stupid for me to kill you if the last people to have seen you alive saw you with me last? Everyone knows a good murder is well planned." He kinda confused me for a second. Did he just tell me that he's thought about murdering someone? I just ignored questioning it, and nodded, giving in and knowing I wouldn't be watching the movie. What was this stranger doing to me?
