I gently walked down the steps bracing myself for meeting Lawrence, Devon's father. I don't know why but I have this brutal image of a terrifying father from like the stone age or a puritan society, even though saw his face in the photograph. Devon stopped at the foot of the stairs, gently pulling me into the living-room where his robed parents sat. Katherine was wiping blood from her husbands neck and I felt concern grow in me, although Devon looked perfectly fine, and unfazed.

"Dad, what exactly happened?" Devon asked asked his posture completely calm.

Lawrence looked up and met my eyes, and I suddenly felt embarrassed for staring at him. I looked down, hoping he didn't take that as a first impression. Oh god his dad must think I am a little girl unable to even make eye contact with her potential father in law. God I am pathetic. Devon looked down at me too, and I felt extremely uncomfortable when Katherine looked up and raised her eyebrows. I contemplated saying something but then I realized I have less of a chance looking terrifically stupid if I just stayed silent.

"Father," Devon said again, but his father continued to stare at me. I felt panic crawl up my  throat when finally his father groaned.

"Wow. That is the stupidest thing I have ever heard. I'm about to-" he started.

"Funny thing dad. That isn't your business. So what happened?" Devon cut him off and I looked up at him wondering what they were talking about.

What are you talking about, love?

It's not important darling.

"Well I was out with the outer border patrol, and we were inside town a bit more then normal. The wolfs just wanted to get it done with and switch out. We had an attack on the east end and it wasn't just some unfriendly passers, there were rouges who look like they were just released. And if anything's going to make our extermination any harder its the fact that there were also vampires."

"Wait...what?!?!" All my semi-solid knowledge of the world took its the last hit and shattered.

After finding out that vampires exist, I don't think I could question anything rightfully anymore. Devon and I were lying on his bed, and I was trying to ignore this strange new world I was yanked into. Devon and I had just met, and our connection was growing insanely stronger and honestly I am terrified. Love is new to me and I'm not sure if this is sanity. Since when does someone just get handed a whole new reality and take it like its normalcy? Apparently I'm supposed to.

"Kitty?" His voice was so soft I felt a shiver run down my spine, or perhaps that was just his husky voice whispering my name in that sexy tone.

Stop it Kaitlyn! Bad girl, down! Sara mocked me and I kinda started hating having a wolf, jealousy grew inside me and I only wanted Devon for myself.

"Yes?" I whispered as he laid his head down softly against my chest. My fingers slipped through his hair relaxing me, as Sara fumed inside me. I could tell she didn't want to have this argument right now so I let her stew.

"I just needed to know you are real, it's a lot to take in. I thought I would never have a mate." His voice rang out in the darkness, even though his voice was barely a whisper. I shuddered once more and knew a cocky grin spread across his face. Snuggling back into his pillows I tried to ignore the fact that there was school tomorrow, and fell asleep with Devon's arms wrapped around my waist and his face cuddling my neck.

Beep, Beep. I woke with a start not used to this noise filling my ears. Moaning a bit I tried rolling away from this sound but found myself immobilized by something heavy lying over my waist, and his arm tightened around me. That's when I felt my cheeks light up at the memory of sleeping with a boy, I slipped open my eyes and the alarm stopped. No use if I don't try. I moved my body closer to Devon's and curled up into him, pushing my face into his shirt. His chuckle made my insides melt and my heart beat ten times faster than normal. Devon just laid there with me for at least five minutes, and his inevitable sigh brought me to.
