Elite Four Lance
I walked into a smokey room, almost as if a fire was here only a short while ago. The charred scent stung my nostrils, and I saw two light yellow strings on top of a huge orange dragon head.
A Dragonite was staring down at me, its eyes not letting me out of its sight. I gulped and did my best to avoid eye contact, and I saw him. Spiky crimson hair complimented by a long dark navy cap, he stood tall next to his Dragonite. I won't lie either, he was cute too.
He noticed me approaching him and he smiled. "I've heard about you, Alyssa."
I felt my heart soar since a guy as cute as he knew my name before I introduced myself.
"I lead the Elite Four." He announced, "You can call me Lance the dragon trainer."
I nodded, switching my pokéballs around.
He chuckled, turning towards his Dragonite. "You know... dragons are mythical Pokémon."
I scrunched my face up, knowing that Lance was trying to make himself more intimidating.
"They're hard to catch and raise, but their powers are superior," Lance explained, petting his Dragonite on its shoulder.
I agreed with him since I haven't seen a single dragon-type Pokémon in the wild.
Lance turned back to me and grinned. "They're virtually indestructible. There's not being clever with them."
I scoffed, patting Nessie's pokéball, knowing that they were weak to ice-type moves.
"Are you ready to lose?" Lance grinned, throwing in his first Pokémon.
I jumped back and threw out Belphie's pokéball, landing back as soon as Belphie was out. Lance had sent out a Gyarados, its large body caused Belphie to take a step back.
"Your League challenge will end with me!" Lance shouted, his caps moving with his every movement.
"It won't! I'll be the victor today! Thunderbolt!" I shouted.
Belphie quickly avoided the sea creature's tail and called for a storm cloud, the lightning bolt struck down and caused the skeleton to appear. I could tell Lance had underestimated me, his shocked expression as his Gyarados fell to the cold floor.
Lance called back his Gyarados and grinned, almost as if he expected this to happen. He sent out a Dragonair, a long serpentine Pokémon with sky blue scales and a white underbelly. Its big purple eyes aided its elegant appearance, and it had a single horn in the middle of its head.
I called Belphie back and sent out Nessie. Her elegance evened out Dragonair's appearance.
"Safeguard!" Lance shouted.
Dragonair glowed a faint white and turned the remaining pokéballs on Lance's belt white. I gritted my teeth. "Ice Beam!"
Nessie opened her mouth and a bright blue light began to emerge, the air suddenly got cold as she shot the beam at Dragonair's face. The serpent-like Pokémon shivered as it hit the ground.
Lance frowned and called back his Dragonair and he sent out his third Pokémon: an Aerodactyl. A grayish-purple reptile-like Pokémon with large membranous wings. Its gaping mouth showed a jaw full of serrated fangs with a ridged snout.
"Ancient Power!"
I felt my eyes widen since Nessie is partially an Ice-type, and she's weak to rocks. Aerodactyl raised several large rocks in the air, all aiming straight at Nessie. I knew she couldn't dodge it very well, so I had to hope that she could hold out.
The rocks hurled themselves straight at Nessie, who tried to return to her shell, but she couldn't make it in time. The rocks struck her in the neck and fins, leaving large bruises on her beautiful blue scales.
Nessie didn't waver in her determination to win, she raised her head high and let another Ice Beam out. Aerodactyl's large wings had a small frozen spot, causing it to crash into the ground.
Lance clicked his tongue and called his Aerodactyl back, and sent out another Dragonair. I grinned, Nessie nodded as she read my mind.
She opened her mouth and a bright blue light straight at Dragonair. With one direct hit, Dragonair fell to the floor. I grinned as Lance called back his second to last Pokémon, I believe we would win. Nessie nodded as if she were reassuring me that we would, and Lance moved his cap and his Dragonite flew in.
Its Orange body towered over Nessie, but it wasn't exactly intimidating. It has a derpy look to it that made it a cute dragon, and it helped me gain confidence.
"Outrage!" Lance shouted, causing his cape to move dramatically.
Dragonite's eyes glowed white, and it roared and charged at Nessie. She was thrown into the wall of the arena, her shell almost cracking due to the sheer impact of the attack.
Nessie groaned but got back to her feet, she slowly raised her neck and shot out another Ice Beam. Dragonite's wings froze and it crashed down on the ground, nearly landing on Lance himself. He gasped as his Dragonite didn't get up.
He sighed and acknowledged his defeat, he turned to me and smiled. "I hate to admit it, but you are a Pokémon Master."
I blushed at that statement, I felt as if I could almost cry at his comment. I hugged Nessie and quickly healed her up. Lance had come over to me, his crimson red hair caught my eyes once again.
"I still can't believe my dragons lost to you, Alyssa." Lance bitterly smiled, "You are now the Pokémon League Champion."
"Eh?"
"...Or, you would've been, but there is one more challenge left." Lance chuckled.
I frowned. "Why'd you say that!"
He laughed, but his expression suddenly turned serious. "There is one more trainer to face. And his name is-"
"Why'd you spoil the fun, Lance?"
I gasped when I realized whose voice that was. I couldn't mishear, nor could I believe he was already here.
Green slowly entered Lance's chambers, his ego-driven smile growing as he saw my face fall. Lance slowly backed away once he saw Green coming straight for me.
"You're finally here, Alyssa." Green started, "it's about time too. I even thought that Lorelei stopped you, but here you were."
I gulped. "W-why are you already the champion?"
He smiled. "I beat the Elite Four quite a while ago. It's only natural I'm the Champion now."
I glared at him and got in his face. "Don't get used to being the Champion, Green," I growled, grabbing his shirt with my right hand. "I'll be taking the throne from you."
Green laughed louder than I ever heard him, I let him go and watched as he walked back to his chambers. "I'll be waiting, Alyssa."
I felt my face heat up, realizing what I had just done. I was so close to his face that I could almost kiss him, and I regretted that I didn't. However, I would. Once I beat him. I grinned, and ran to his room, hoping that Green could handle the loss.
