Blazing Ambitions

"I can't believe I forgot to ask Surge about his past!" I groaned.

The breeze seemingly teased me as it went through my hair, but I continued on my way since I was already on my way to the next town.

I was looking forward to the next town since I just beat Surge, and I could continue brainstorming potential teammates too.

Some ideas came to me by battling other trainers, but I never asked where they got their Pokémon.

Along the trail, I even picked up TM 40 which contained Aerial Ace. Osore already knows the move, but it will probably come in handy if I ever need money.

I pulled my map out from my bag and groaned when I saw that we had to go into a cave. Not that caves aren't fun, but it will take me forever to maneuver my way through.

Once I was in front of the large cave opening, I gulped and ran inside. It was darker than the wish I made to die, but the cave itself was full of life.

I couldn't see two feet in front of me, and I wished that I had some sort of fire type Pokémon. I stuck my arms out in front of me and carefully took a step.

I tripped. There was a large rock and it made me scrape my legs.

"Ow..." I squealed.

"Are you ok?"

I froze, not breathing, not moving, and slowly picked myself up and turned around so I could leave the haunted cave.

I knew it wasn't Green since he was already in Celadon City, and I knew it couldn't have been other trainers either since it was so dark that you couldn't see two feet in front of you.

"Hey! I'm talking to you! We're supposed to battle now!"

I stopped, hoping that whoever was talking to me couldn't see me. I slowly turned around and saw a bright orange head with black beady eyes staring back at me.

I screamed and ran deeper into the cave, falling and making myself bleed more. I kept hearing the voice following me throughout the cave, searching for me.

I wanted to cry, but I wanted to get myself out of this horrible situation first.

"Hey, are you alright?"

I could recognize that soothing voice anywhere, Green.

"Green?"

"Alyssa?!"

I could hear the panic in his voice, and he sounded very upset. I felt him grab my hand and pull me along with him, leading me somewhere.

I'm just lucky that he couldn't see me because I'm pretty sure I was redder than a tomato. However, he didn't say anything.

He didn't ask for a battle, nor was he making fun of me for being scared. His grim grip wasn't hurting me, but his silent treatment was. I didn't understand why he was being this way, but I wasn't going to pry either.

He led me to the exit of the cave, and once I left the cave I looked back for him. However, he never came out of the cave. I wanted to wait for him, but I left shortly after.

I wasn't going to let his sacrifice of letting me leave the cave first go to waste. I ran off, ignoring my feelings for Green.

While running, I saw a huge tower in the distance. I don't remember there being a tower in Celadon City, but I guess there was one.

I headed straight for it, not stopping for anything since Rock Tunnel did a number on scaring the life out of me.

I sneezed while feeling a shiver up my spine.
