Battling the Sleepy

I slowed my breathing as I approached the slumbering Pokémon. I quietly reached into my bag, grabbing the PokéFlute and slowly dragging it out.

I gulped and hesitated as I contemplated even playing the flute. I needed to continue moving onward, but Snorlax was in the way.

With a heavy heart, I played the flute. It was horrible, I was off-key and it sounded like a cat was dying, but the music was enough to wake up the sleeping Snorlax.

The ground started crumbling as the sleeping Pokémon began growling. I had never felt so bad in my entire life, I had just woken up a peacefully sleeping Pokémon.

I grabbed Spike's pokéball and readied myself to throw, but Snorlax took its sweet time getting prepared for battle.

Finally, after a gruesome ten minutes of sitting, Snorlax was ready for battle. I would be too if I had just gotten woken up from my tone-deaf playing of the flute.

I threw Spike's pokéball out and leaped back as Snorlax quickly lunged at Spike. I imagine it had used "Headbutt" or maybe even "Takedown", but I didn't know exactly which one.

"Counter!"

Spike lunged himself at Snorlax, crashing into its squishy body. The damage Spike had taken from Snorlax's attack let Spike deliver a decent blow.

Snorlax let out a loud yawn, and I instantly regretted sending Spike out. He instantly got drowsy and began yawning almost immediately.

However, Snorlax started to fumble around. Spike glanced behind him and stared at me. I shrugged and started towards the large Pokémon.

Spike let out a low growl and stepped in front of me, but I gently pet him. Spike hesitated but moved out of the way.

Snorlax was breathing heavily and it sounded like a low growl was coming from it. I took a deep breath and gently poked the giant Pokémon, and it collapsed.

I screamed and began calling Spike over and frantically trying to wake up the collapsed Snorlax.

Spike seemed uninterested in the current situation and looked quite bored.

"How would you feel if this were Haru? Or Osore? Heck or even Kaen?" I questioned.

"Nido!" Spike responded, crossing his large arms.

I stared at him and immediately realized what was happening to this Snorlax. It had gone back to sleep in the middle of battle.

I felt so embarrassed that I just fell to my knees and didn't look Spike in the eyes for a solid ten minutes.

Spike let out a loud huffed laugh and sat down beside me. I apologized to Spike and pet his head, to which he purred deeply.

I thought about catching the slumbering Pokémon, but I felt bad if it would wake up and not be here. How shocking would that be? Waking up in a different place than where you were. I sighed since that happened to me when I came here.

I decided to leave the Snorlax, so it could sleep peacefully. Spike sighed and went back inside his pokéball after judging my decision.

I continued down the bridge, coming across a little girl who was shocked that I had discovered her hideout. Even after repeatedly telling her that I wasn't going to tell anyone, she insisted on giving me something to shut me up.

She gave me HM02, which was something I desperately needed for Osore. I quickly taught Osore the flying type attack, and he soared through the sky as I had never seen before.

I called him back and we continued, I came across a local fisherman who was too interested in fishing. The good thing was he gave me a fishing rod, but the bad news is that I had no idea how to fish.

After battling a few more random trainers and gaining tons of experience for the Pokémon, we finally arrived at Fuchsia City.

It was a calm place with several people in a tranquil setting. There was a huge crystal clear lake with a large Pokémon resembling the Loch Ness Monster.

I gasped and waved at the beautiful Pokémon, and it responded to my wave. After exploring the place a little more, I finally found the Pokémon Center.

I walked in, hopeful but didn't see him. I spotted Nurse Joy and she happily gave me a key to a room. It was already late in the afternoon, so I figured we could just eat and then relax until we sleep.

I went out to see if I could find anything to eat for my Pokémon and me, and I found the Gym. I got excited and had to hold myself back from entering right now.

"Until tomorrow..." I mumbled to myself.

Hi! This chapter is a lil short :(, but I figured it would have been too long if I wrote the gym battle in it too. Also... we hit 1K reads! I can't believe I got this far! Thank you all so very much for reading! :D
