The Electric Pokémon

"Professor, I caught one of the legendary Pokémon!" I exclaimed on the Pokémon Center phone.

I saw the Professor's eyes light up as he nearly choked on his coffee. "You WHAT?! That's fantastic!"

"Right?! Where's the next one located?" I eagerly asked.

The Professor thought for a few seconds before remembering. "Go to the Power Plant! You should find another one there."

I nodded and quickly hung up. I ran outside the Pokémon Center, called out Osore so he could fly us out of Cinnabar Island, and we headed off to the Power Plant.

I checked the map and sighed heavily. This was the only Power Plant in the region, and it's abandoned. The entrance was covered in cobwebs and broken glass was scattered all around the ground.

I could feel chills run down my spine as I stared at the entrance. Something powerful was in there, and it didn't seem to want company.

I shook my head and shoved the doors open. The sunlight was shining through the windows, but only highlighted certain areas of the place. I could hardly see with the glare.

I felt something staring at me throughout the building, but I couldn't make out where it was. I called out Spike, who kept growling at the ceiling.

After wandering around for a little, I still couldn't find anything. I sighed and took out an Ultra ball, staring at its yellow and black complexion when Spike started hurling things into the air.

I turned to where Spike was facing and saw a huge yellow and black bird speeding straight for us. Its triangular eyes glared at me while it cawed with its sharp beak.

Spike stood in front of me and started using Earthquake. The whole building began shaking as the loose lights started crashing down. I glanced at the electrical bird, and it was barely dodging.

I took this opportunity and threw the Ultra Ball at the Pokémon, and to my surprise, it hit. The Ultra ball shook and shook, but unfortunately, the Pokémon got loose and started using an electric attack.

Luckily, it didn't affect Spike and he kept up his Earthquake. The Pokémon's spikey wings kept getting hit with the crumbling ceiling rubble.

I bit my lip as I watched the electrical bird struggle to avoid the rubble, and I wanted to get it out of the situation it was in. However, the look in its eyes made me want to wait.

It still had a fighting spirit and I gave Spike the nod of approval. The Earthquake got higher in power and more rubble crashed down on the Pokémon's wings. I threw another pokéball without thinking, but this time the Pokémon didn't put up any resistance.

I ran over to Spike, watching as the pokéball kept moving until it stopped. I cautiously looked at Spike, who was wide-eyed with his jaw agape and slowly proceeded to the unmoving Ultra ball.

I called out the electric bird and tended to its wounds with my hyper potions. Its wings tensed up at my touch, and I couldn't blame it since I had just captured this Pokémon.

"Sorry... I caught you." I mumbled.

The bird didn't say anything and just stared at me. I finished applying the last bit of the hyper potion while getting shocked by the static.

"Ah!" I gasped, staring into the Pokémon's eyes. "I know what your nickname is Raiden!"

I quickly pulled out my Pokédex and read its entry. "Zapdos... electric and flying... legendary?!"

I stared up at the legendary Zapdos, who was just curiously staring at me. I felt like my eyes were sparkling while watching Zapdos react to the nickname I had picked.

It gave me a slight nod as it averted its eyes. I grinned and hugged Raiden. I felt Raiden tense up again as it tried to get away from me, so it paralyzed me.

Spike screamed and quickly rummaged through my bag for a paralyze heal. Raiden had their head down while Spike was growling deeply for his lecture.

"Spike... I'm ok. Don't make Raiden feel bad." I chuckled.

I approached Raiden and held out my hand to him. "Let's go!"

Its eyes widened as it got up and ran towards me, lifting me on its back as it took to the skies. The sunset was a beautiful crimson, and I never wanted this to end.

Another legendary down! Also it's my birthday today so yay! I'm now 19 so I guess that's cool but idk what else is new aside from me dying sooner
