Exploring the World

Viridian City was a trip to the park. Since I had been there and walked if felt like I had only walked a block.

Haru and Osore insisted that they walked alongside me, and I couldn't deny them that. Osore was flapping his wings while Haru was pouncing in anything.

I couldn't help but smile at them, but the feeling of defeat was still stinging. I couldn't believe that Green had trained up that much, but I guess I sort of understand.

The Viridian Gym Leader uses ground types, and Charmander is a fire type, so he's trying to get Metal Claw.

Luckily, Haru and Osore can mock battle each other and that's what they do, so they can level up together.

"Inside you guys. We have to look professional." I announce, getting their pokéballs out.

They squealed in protest as I tried to contain them, but I ran into someone. I looked up, fully expecting Green, and it was.

"What are you doing at the Viridian Gym?" He condescendingly asked.

I felt a jolt of rage run through my body. "The same thing as you. About to challenge this-"

"The closed Viridian Gym? Figures you wouldn't know." Green interrupted.

I gulped and scratched the back of my neck. "R-right... so now I'm headed to the next closest gym in-"

"Pewter City. That's where I'm headed to and don't even bother showing up, Brock won't have enough time to even hand you a defeat when I'm done with him." Green once again interrupted.

Another jolt of rage-filled my head. "Shut up! Why are you still here?"

He smirked as he scrambled my hair. "I just had to see your face before I left. The stupid look of yours is too funny."

I smacked his hand away and blushed. "G-go beat the gym already! I'll beat you to it too!"

Green gave me a toothy grin and laughed. "I'd love to see you try! Later."

Green sped away, leaving me in front of the empty gym. My heart tightened as he disappeared from my sight.

Oh no! I will NOT be catching feelings in here!

I shook my head and started along the same path, Viridian Forest. I put Osore's pokéball in the front so I could have easy access to him.

Luckily it was a nice day, with hardly any harsh sunlight. The trees were a rich green with a pleasant breeze that swayed my body.

My heartbeat quickened as the forest calmly swayed between the soft winds. I even ran into a few trainers and leveled up Osore. He didn't learn any new moves, and that was a little disappointing, but I'm just happy that he leveled up.

Some of these trainers were pretty interesting too, I met a few people who adore catching bug Pokémon.

I don't think I could build a solid team with bug Pokémon, so I give them props. I also don't want to admit this, but I got lost in the forest. Even the bug catchers were laughing at my dumb self.

Unfortunately, this was too good to last. I found the exit much faster than I anticipated. I made it to route two and then Pewter City wasn't far behind either.

I think that the City could use a makeover from just being a boring gray color, but knowing what this town is famous for that won't be happening anytime soon.

I found the Pokémon Center, which was the on my building besides the Pokémart that had a colored roof, and headed inside.

Nurse Joy wasn't at the front desk which was very unusual, so I casually sat down in the waiting room. As I was relaxing and stretching, a horde of Pokémon was rushed in with a ton of children with tears streaming down their faces.

I quickly got up and grabbed one of them. "What the heck is going on?"

Her tear-filled eyes were overflowing. "W-w-we c-c-challenged the gym leader a-a-and-"

Another young boy grabbed her arm and yanked her away. "We all lost to Brock! Don't torment us anymore!"

They went to the back of the hospital with their Pokémon, leaving me alone with my thoughts.

Is Brock really that tough of a leader? Will I stand a chance? I did lose to Green...

My mind swirled around before Nurse Joy came out and tended to me. "I'm so sorry about that! Brock certainly had his hands full today with battles."

I nervously chuckled. "What kind of Pokémon does he use?"

Nurse Joy smiled. "Rock types. The Pewter City specialty."

"Figures... also, did a young man around the same age as I come by here? I asked.

Nurse Joy put my Pokémon in the quick healer and carefully thought about my question. "I don't believe so... I think he may be challenging Brock's gym though."

"Is there any way I can crash here tonight?" I asked, shaking my head.

She nodded while handing me back my pokéballs. "Of course."

I smiled, took the keys to my room, and hesitantly walked to my room. I saw the kids crying besides their Pokémon, and the feelings that that could happen to Osore or Haru was not what I expected coming into this world.

I unlocked my door and fell asleep, praying that I could beat Brock tomorrow.

Alyssa has doubts about beating Brock! I took that idea from the original Pokémon anime lol. I hope you enjoyed this kinda short chapter, but I understand if you didn't. I didn't want to put Brock's gym battle in the same chapter. Anyway, until next time :)
