I squinted my eyes, my vision stuck upon the tunnel in front of me. It was dark, too dark, and the torch lights seemed to get absorbed by the darkness. I frowned when I had a uneasy feeling inside of me, and it kept throwing me off. I couldn't help but look around, but I couldn't see anything that would explain why I felt like that. I flinched when I heard Jimin yelp out loud, and almost turned back to look when I heard that it was nothing serious.
"RUN!" I heard Jungkook yell out loud. And for a second I faltered in my decision. The urgency in his voice was so strong, I almost started running. But at the same time, I didn't know why? And the question made me stay still in one place. However before I had the chance to answer the question, I heard Hoseok gasp and curse, a second after Jungkook yelled and then he grabbed my arm forearm and tugged along with him. I didn't have a chance to understand what was happening. One second, it was quite and eerie as we were going through the tunnel. And then suddenly, Jungkook yelled, and everything became a chaos of rushing footsteps and blood curling screeches.
But I managed to gather my thoughts, and glanced back, pointing my torch towards whatever was screeching like that. And I regretted my decision as soon as I looked back. If it weren't for Hoseok's tight grip on my hand as he dragged me forward, I would've frozen in spot. Sheer fear, and terror grasping on my mind and body like several invisible hands. My almost tripped over my feet, but Hoseok was there.
But I knew that his vice like grip on my arm was because he was far too terrified as well. Perhaps, if possible, more than me. He was running and moving entirely because of fear. It had complete control over his body. Like it's said, fear is wisdom in face of danger.
The sounds of our footsteps, and the screeches mixed with echoing sound of my pounding heart, putting in a state of pure chaos. My chest started to ache, breaths falling in pants, and gasps.
The tunnel widened to an open space. Beams of frail, silvery moonlights came in from the holes in the roof of the place. It barely lit the place.
"The torch light's affecting them!" I heard Yoongi yell. Glancing back I saw him in front of Jimin, flashing the torch lights towards those creatures. They screeched and cried but it wasn't enough to stop them. The did back away for some time. But only to lurch forward.
"Yoongi! Drop your torch on the ground!" I yelled back, "It'll stop them long enough for us to run away far enough."
He gave a non-verbal response, dropping the torch in their direction. And it worked. All of those creatures backed away immediately. Crying in pain as they tried to shield their eyes. That gave all of us enough time to run away. I couldn't stop. Because I knew, if I did my legs will give out the next second. We kept running till the screeches were no longer audible.
We had gone through another tunnel, wider than the one connecting the mouth; it led to another open space. I felt my legs wobble as we gradually slowed down. We were panting hard. I squinted my eyes, trying to make out anything amongst the dark shadows. I scared to point my in the direction we came, scared to know what I might just see again.
