I slowly opened my eyes. Only to be met by bright light blinding my vision. I groaned a little; a numbing sensation coursing through my body. I took in shallow breaths, trying to assess where I was. Wherever I was, the position wasn't convenient. I could feel my legs were hanging midair. The only support I had was something hard slammed against my back. I tried to move, unsure of where I was. For all I knew, I could be on the edge of somewhere and even the slightest movement in the wrong direction will throw me off to my death.
Carefully, I shifted my head. A choked scream getting stuck in my mouth when I came face to face to a woman's head. Blood covering her face, dribbling down. Mouth hanging wide open and eyes rolled over to the back of her head. I pushed down the party food that wanted to rise up to my throat, and shifted my focus downwards. In that moment I realized, I was hanging off an edge. I recognized it to be a corridor, but it was angled as such I should've slid down. Below me, what should have been a wall was completely gone. Leaving wide space between me and the next room, or whatever it was in front of me. I realized that my coat was stuck to something. And that something was the only reason I hadn't fallen over by now.
I was stuck. That was for sure. There was nothing I could do at the moment without risking the chance to fall down to my eminent death.
But of course, my instincts kicked in. My heart beating harshly against my chest, and my brain racking inside of my skull to try and find a way out of here. Tilting my head to the side I saw the edge of a staircase. If I could just reach forward and grab the rod of the railing, I might just be able to pull myself.
Slowly, I moved my right hand, stretching it out to grab the rod. Just a little further. Only a finger's length.
"Auck!" I yelped out, stopping abruptly when I heard something tearing down. At first, I froze thinking it was my shirt, but then I realized the sound didn't come from so near me. Gulping, I looked up wards. Tilting my head, a little, I realized something, right above me was going to come sliding any second. I couldn't see what it was. The body of the women right above me blocking my sight. And honestly, I didn't even want to see what it was. Taking in a deep breath, I tried to reach forward once again, but stopped just went I heard the tearing sound once again. This time I didn't look upwards. I didn't risk losing upwards. I didn't know how much time I had left.
"Damn it!" I grumbled when my fingers slipped by the metal. It was so close, but I still don't get a grip. My eyes widen when I heard the tearing sound once again. And this time it was louder than before. And whatever it was, it was about to come hurling down. This left me with one choice. I had to shift up my body to the side. If I couldn't grab the railing, I would slide down. And if I didn't try, whatever that was above me was going to come sliding down and push me down along with the other body or bodies.
It's a die or die situation.
Fantastic.
I took a deep breath, trying to calm my racing heart, and threw my body to the side. My eyes widened. A scream coming out my mouth as my fingers slipped past the surface of the metal rod. My eyes clammed shut as I realized what was about to happen next.
