'Why is everybody ignoring me?' Thought Oikawa. His team did this on a daily basis, yes, but they usually talk to him after a few minutes. Practise had started an hour ago. 'Why are they not letting me play? Am I not good enough?' The whole time during practise, the team wouldn't let him play. They wouldn't even turn a hair if he asked to. Oikawa was starting to get annoyed. Why were they ignoring him?! What did he do?!

It was the same in classes. The teachers wouldn't call his name. It was like he wasn't even there. His fan girls wouldn't come up to him and give him his daily love letter. His class mates wouldn't bug him about being gay. It was weird. And Oikawa didn't like it one bit.

It went in for months. People not acknowledging his presence. Nobody bugging him about his insecurities. Nobody letting him practise. Nobody paying any attention to him.

Even though he was being ignored by his peers, Oikawa still got everyone he knew a Christmas present. He wrapped them without any help. He wrote them personal cards. And yet nobody gave him anything back. He would have at least suspected a gift from his sister, his parents, or even Iwazumi. But, he got nothing. No present under the tree there for him. No body wishing him a happy Christmas. Nothing.

Oikawa went out of his way to make everybody a Valentine's Day card. He decorated them with hearts, he told them people he was giving them to how much he appreciated them being there for him in his toughest times, even though they weren't there right now. And, just like every other time, he was ignored. No chocolates from Iwazumi. No cards form his team. He would have hoped that his fans would have sent him one, by no, nothing came for him.

It seemed as if the whole world was ignoring him. His friends would look at the exact place he was standing with a blank look. Looking as if they saw right through him.

His teammates and family went by his birthday. They didn't sing him the happy birthday song. They didn't make him a cake. They didn't give him presents. They didn't do anything. But they did look sad.

His team went to a practise match with Karasuno. It surprised Oikawa that Tsukishima and Kageyama weren't making their usual jabs at him. They weren't even arguing themselves. Not long after other teams came into the gym. Turns out it wasn't a practise match. These people had one thing in common. They all looked sad.

The more teams Oikawa spent his time with, the more he noticed something unusual. Every. Single. Volleyball team had retired the number 1. Nobody wore the jersey anymore. They wouldn't even look at it.

But what made Oikawa the most confused, was why were all his seats in school, in the gym, at his own house, closed off? Why was nobody sitting in them?

Oikawa Toru had died the year previous. He got into a car accident and had lost his life. Nobody was ignoring him. The just couldn't see him. He wasn't there. He was dead.
