Oikawa had always loved Iwaizumi, since the moment he laid on eyes on him.

He knew the other would never love him as much, but that didn't matter. His love was enough for both of them.

The two had been glued to the hip ever since they were babies, and their friendship went up until high school.

Though people said their friendship was toxic, they stuck together.

It wasn't long before they started dating.

Most had seen it coming, so it wasn't a surprise when it was confirmed by the two. They were happy for the boys, and most supported the relationship, but of course there were other who didn't.

The two received hate at a very young age, but they learned to cope with it. It didn't bother them that much any more.

Oikawa was falling even harder for Iwaizumi as the years went on. He was clingy, and couldn't seem to function without his 'Iwa-chan'.

Iwaizumi was different however; he rarely ever showed any type of affection, nor did he show any change in emotion as the years passed by. He never changed his nicknames, and he never allowed Oikawa to get to touchy.

Oikawa should have paid more attention to the red-flags sooner.

Oikawa was blinded by his love for Iwaizumi. He discarded every warning any one had repeatedly thrown at him, and instead decided to spend more time with Iwaizumi. He couldn't be bothered about what other people had to say about *his* relationship.

He should have listened to the warnings.

Iwaizumi continued to act cold and distant towards Oikawa, and the latter was used to it by now. The spikey haired male hadn't changed in the four years they had been dating.
He continued with his rude nicknames, and his less than charming actions.
He wasn't falling more in love, it was almost like he was falling out of it.

Oikawa continued to ignore the signs, even though they had become more prominent. He continued to love Iwaizumi, even when others warned him against it. He continued to think that Iwaizumi still loved him.

Any person would say that Oikawa had his dull moments; where he was not very smart at all, and acted very, very oblivious. But they would never call him stupid, even if he didn't listen to them. That didn't matter.
Even if he started to ignore their warnings all together. That didn't matter. Even when he sobbed when Iwaizumi broke up with him. That didn't matter, right?

Oikawa was a smart man, and he was always good and guessing or questioning what can happen before it does, but he never expected this.

The moment the words sunk in, Iwaizumi had already left the house; his bags in his arms and his ring on the table, resting atop divorce papers — which he had already signed.

The moment Oikawa heard the car pull out of the driveway was the moment the tears started.
And the moment he realized that Iwaizumi was never coming back was the moment he collapsed to the floor.

He should have seen this coming. He should've paid more attention to the red-flags that had constantly popped up during the four year relationship.
He should've listened to the warning which were constantly dished out to him.

He should've done things differently.

But he didn't, and there was nothing he could do now.

Oikawa was broken for the longest time. Not only had he lost his lover, but he had lost his best friend.
He knew that dating his best friend came with its dangers, but he was ready to risk everything for a chance with Iwaizumi.

Maybe that's where he went wrong.

Oikawa was starting his life over. He knew that he couldn't stay in a place which always seemed to remind him of his ex, so he moved. He packed his bags and moved to Argentina, where he had been accepted into a team.

He erased all the memories of when he had loved Iwaizumi romantically, and instead focussed on the ones that he could think about without breaking down.

He found a support system. He had met man who had lent him a shoulder to cry on, and they became close.
Soon they made it official to the world.

Oikawa was moving on, and everyone was proud of him.

He knew he could never have his old lover back, and he was fine with that.

That was in the past, and he was focussing on the present. He had learned things from Iwaizumi, and he was grateful for that.

Life goes on.
