Mason's POV:
I had already rinsed off in the shower to get the salt water off my body. I had grabbed my laptop and made my way downstairs. "Hey Mason." My younger brother called out to me "Hey Gale." I said out of emotion rubbing his hair around and continuing my way to the kitchen. "Whats up." Gale called after me sitting on the barstool. "nothing everything's fine." I said taking a seat next to him and opening the laptop and logging in."Something's wrong." Gale said not giving up. For a 7 year old her sure is smart on reading emotions. "Okay yes something is wrong." I said turning to him "what is it tell me." Gale said peering up into my eyes full of worry.
I let out a sigh I can't tumble all my emotion onto my 7 year old brother. "I can't decide if I should go to college." I said finally it wasn't a complete lie I have been looking at colleges but none of them fix me. "Well have you told dad, and Wendy?" Gale asked placing his hands on the counter top making them tap the surface. "No not yet, I just need to leave Maui for a little bit." I said rubbing my face, with my free hand as the other one opened a google tab.
"You want to leave Maui?" My young mini version of me said looking up at me with teary eyes. "No I don't want to I just have to you got to understand that Gale." I said regretting that I mention I might be leaving Maui. "No, you were born here, you have to stay." Gale said trying to reason holding back his tears forcefully. "Gale I know but I gotta think about my future." I said putting a hand on his shoulder turning my whole body towards him. "Ohana is you future, mom always said that." Gale yelled at me jumping off his stool and running to his room.
I turned around to the counter top and crossed my arms across the surface burning my head on top of them. "Mom what do I do?" I said out loud. My mom had died 2 years ago, leaving me and Gale motherless for the rest of our lives. My dad moved on quickly and got himself a girlfriend Wendy. Ever since mom died Gale holds onto ever last memory he has of her which isn't much since he was 5 when she passed.
"Hey." My dad shouted as he barged through the front door. Making my head shoot up. "Wendy and I brought some groceries she's planning on making a special meal tonight for dinner." My dad informed me, truthfully I didn't care. "Yeah that's cool thanks Wendy, hey I gotta talk to Gale." I said pushing passed my dad. "Why did something happen?" He questioned. "What no, just want some brother time." I said heading to Gale's room.

Mason said placing his hand on his brothers back. "Then why are you leaving?" Gale said sitting up confused. "I need to go to college get a larger education to support a family I will soon possibly might have, that's Ohana too, Gale I will never forget you or mom and all the memories we have here in Kahului." Mason explained trying to make it simple to the best of his ability for the 7 year old to understand. "Oh." Was all Gale said as he made an O shape with his mouth as he said the word. "Im going to visit, don't worry." Mason said nudging his brothers shoulder lightly. "I know."
