Chasing Fantasies

Chapter 12

Today was the day. Mason's big audition for the Maze Runner. Mason had invited Haven and at the moment the two were sitting down waiting for mason's name to be called. Haven went over lines with Mason, and made jokes as well to calm the nervousness Mason had. "You will do fine trust me." Haven smoothed as she looked into Mason's eyes. "I don't know I want this I really do but maybe my dads right it's most likely not going to happen." Worried out. "Your dad crazy you will do amazing, plus if you don't make it I will still be very proud of you, you are opening up to show your talent." Haven smiled. "Okay thanks." Mason said as he gave Haven a peck on the cheek. Haven was about to say something, but Mason's name echoed through out the waiting room. "Mason Hunt." A ladies voice rang through the intercom. "that's my cue." Mason said to Haven. Giving her a warm smile. "Good luck, not that you'll need it or anything your a natural." Haven said as she gave Mason a quick hug. "ill be right back." Mason assured as he released Haven from the hug and walked through the wooden door heading to his audition.

Mason's Audition:

Mason approached the front of the table that hand been set up. It was full of mirages people both men and women. Mason gulped as he handed them his form and walked further back taking his position in the center of the room. "My name is Mason Hunt and I will be auditioning for the role of Thomas." Mason said "You may start as soon as you say you line, I assume you already know the required lines we have made out for this audition." A man with black and speckles of white hair said. "yes sir." Mason answered "Continue." A lady said nodding her head. Mason took a breath as he began.

THAT'S THE MAZE

Thomas: "What's through there?"
Newt: "That's the maze. It never takes the same shape twice. Every morning when those doors open, there are runners who look for a way out and no one has ever survived a night in the maze."
Thomas: "What happens to them?"
Newt: "We call them Grievers."

IT'S NOT SAFE:

Chuck: "What are you doing?"
Thomas: "I just want to take a look."
Chuck: "I told you, you can't. It's not safe."
Thomas: "Okay, I'm not going to go in."
Gally: "We've got to stop meeting like this, Greenie."
Thomas: "Why won't you tell me what's out there?"
Alby: "I just want to protect you, man. It's for your own good."
Thomas: "All right, you guys can't just keep me here!"
Alby: "I can't let you leave."
Thomas: "Why not?"

THREE RULES:

Alby: "My name is Alby. Now, can you tell me anything about yourself, who you are?"
Thomas: "What is this place?"
Alby: "Let me show you. Hope you're not afraid of heights. Let's go. Come on. This is all we got."
Thomas: "What's out there?"
Alby: "We only have three rules. First, do your part. Second, never harm another Glader. Most importantly, never go beyond those walls."

Mason had finished the lines he was assigned. The mirages people said the lines that Mason wasn't auditioning for. "Very good." A lady with bright red hair said as she smiled and wrote something down on a paper. "Thank you." Mason smiled. "okay so it says you are from Kahului, Maui why are you here in L.a?" A man with brown hair and a stubbled bread asked. "I attended UCLA, my girlfriend looked up this audition for me and said I should try it I opened up to the idea and well here I am." Mason explained. "okay. We will defiantly give you a call." The man with the black white speckles hair smiled. "Okay thank you again." Mason said as he walked out the door.

Mason's POV:
That was actually fun. I thought to my self as I walked back to the waiting room down the hall. I entered the waiting room. Seeing Haven's head jolt up as she quickly stood from her seat and walked over to me. "well how did it go." She questioned. "Good, they said I did well and that they will give me a call." I smiled "that's great I told you." Haven teased giving me a hug. "What did you tell me?" I asked resting my head on her shoulder. "that you will do great." Haven said as she stepped back and grabbed my hand. "Come on let's go, we need to be back at the campus by 9." Haven said as she lead the way out. "do t worry we will be fine it's barely 8:30." I said looking down at my phone screen. "Well if you want to take the chance and just wait out in the cold till they open the gates again that fine with me." Haven joked as she stopped walking. "no no no, lets get going, I'm not sleeping outside with no blankets or a pillow." I said as I snatched her hand quickly and intertwined our fingers and ran off to the car. Today is literally one of the best days of my life.
