Chapter 9
" Your ready?" Bella scoffed, " I thought you didn't believe in fairy tales,"
Anjela chuckled. " After what you showed me, I couldn't think it wasn't real, unless you used smoke and mirrors,"
Bella rolled her eyes. " We're not ghosts, but it's great to know you finally believe us. Do you want to start training now? I could teach you the basics," she offered.
Anjela thought for a moment. She always wanted to be a wolf when she was little, but in pretend. She never thought it was real, that you could actually be one. But then again, she wanted more time to adjust to the sudden change in her life.
Logan stepped in between her and Bella. " I know training's great and all, but isn't she going through stages right now?"
Bella sighed. " Stages, right. I forgot,"
Before Anjela could speak, a sharp pang hit her entire body, making her fall to the ground with a loud thud. she felt paralyzed for a few moments unable to move or speak. She couldn't hear either. Anjela then felt a pair of hands grasp her shoulders and started to shake her desperately, as if trying to get her to move. Her breathing slowed until it stopped for what seemed like forever. She felt dead for a moment, welcoming the darkness entering her eyes. Before it took over, everything stopped. Anjela was breathing again and her heart was racing. Her vision became clear again as her hearing slowly returned. The pain in her was no longer there, as if it never came.
" Someone call 911, please!" Anjela heard her mother plead in a panicked tone.
" Mrs. Crossheart, she's going to be fine," Bella assured her in a calm voice.
" How do you think she's going to be okay?" she snapped back, her voice shaking, " That is my baby!"
Anjela sat up and glanced at her mother. Her cheeks were pale while streams of tears were strolling down her face. Bella had a relaxed expression on her face, while Logan on the other hand, had a worried look on his face.
" Anjela?" her mother asked hesitantly.
" I'm okay," Anjela sighed.
Anjela didn't know if she was okay. She had felt as if the world stopped, as if it froze. The kind of things she's been going through today made her nervous. First a pounding headache, waking up with furry legs and arms, a memory flash, and now a pain that almost killed her. She didn't know what she was going through until Logan mentioned the stages. Then, the pieces started falling into place. Logan and Bella were planning how to turn her into part wolf. They were planning to bite her on Friday, so she could go through pain on Saturday, which is today. They didn't want to bite her, because they are her new friends. Not to mention going out with one of them.
" N-no you're not," her mother rejected, interrupting Anjela's thoughts.
" Yes, I am," Anjela told her.
She didn't want her mother to worry. She doesn't even know about the whole wolf thing.
" She's fine," Bella promised her, " It was probably just a spasm,"
Anjela's mother sprang from the ground and got in Bella's face.
" Just a spasm? Just a spasm?!?" she yelled, " I could have lost my daughter!"
Bella stood her ground, brushing imaginary dust off her shoulders " If she says she's fine, she's fine. Look at her now. Does she look lifeless to you?"
Anjela could feel the heat coming from her mother, a furious look on her face. After a long moment, Anjela's mother leaned in closer, forcing Bella to take a step back.
