Chapter 5

"Your homework tonight is to write an essay about yourself," Mrs. Hall announced to her English class.

About half of the classroom groaned in response. Anjela sighed. She hated homework, especially if it was an essay. Last time she did this kind of homework was when she was writing about the history of Martin Cooper. Even though he had invented cell phones, she still found that person boring.

Mrs. Hall began passing out sheets of paper that was blank. When she reached her table, she gave her a kind smile.

" You're new here?" she asked, her eyes glitching red for a moment.

" Yes. I moved from portland," she informed her, eyeing the blank pieces of paper in her hands.

" Ahh, that's a nice place to live in," she remarked, handing her the paper.

Mrs. Hall moved on to the desk behind her. Soon afterwards, everbody had a blank paper on their desk, ready to be written on. The teacher walked to the front of the room and her eyes swept around the classroom.

" Any questions about homework?" she asked them.

A guy with dark brown eyes and short black hair stood up. His eyes glowed with mischief.

" I don't know anything about myself, so does that mean I can skip it?"

Mrs. Hall sent him a death glare. " Well, Ralph, if you don't know anything about yourself, How about you visit the principal's office? He's really good with records,"

The smile fell off Ralph's face and sat down again as some of the class chuckled. Anjela turned her attention back to the teacher, who was giving him a warning stare. A few moments went by before she turned to the rest of the class.

" Any real questions?"

A blonde headed girl stood up.

" How long does it have to be?" she asked her.

" At least a whole page," she told her, pointing at the white board with her finger.

The board read Must be at least one page.  Suddenly the bell rang, which made students get up out of their seats and raced towards the door. Anjela stayed seated until most of the class had finally made it out into the hall. She got up and gathered her stuff when she felt a hand squeeze her shoulder. She spun around to see Mrs. Hall staring at her as if she were a criminal.

" W-what it is it?" Anjela asked her, stunned that she grabbed her that way.

Just then the principal walked in the door with a smile on his face. When he saw them, his smile faded and was replaced by fear, then anger. He walked over and shoved Mrs. Hall out of the way. He then turned to Anjela.

" Did she hurt you?" he asked.

" No, " she told him, almost unable to speak from what just happened.

Mr. Frost's face relaxed and turned to Mrs. Hall. " Don't do that again. I know what side you're on and I can fire you," he warned.

Mrs. Hall stared at him coldly. " Only trying to do what's best for her," she replied dryly.

" Red isn't best for her. Don't ever do that again, or your done," he growled before leaving.

Anjela rushed out of the room and walked to her locker to see Bella taking books out of her locker. Her blonde hair was in curls and her blue jeans had a smear of red on the bottom.

" You will never guess wat happened," Anjela bursted out.

Bella looked at her and raised an eyebrow. " If it's long can we wait until lunch?"
