Chapter 7
Anjela closed the front door of Bella's home behind her. Bella was beside her, checking her pone as she entered the small kitchen that Bella's mother was cooking in. Anjela walked in and waved at Mrs. Reed.
" Hey Anjela! I've heard so much about you!" Mrs. Reed gushed as she flipped burgers on the skillet.
" We'll be in the living room if you need us," Bella informed her while tugging on Anjela's arm.
Mrs. Reed turned back to her cooking while Anjela and Bella went to the living room and popped a movie in the dvd player. They both sat on the grey couch that was under them and stared at the screen waiting for a season of Friends to pop up.
" Do you want to order pizza?" Bella asked as the previews played.
" Yeah sure, why not?" Anjela replied, thinking about her mother forcing her to eat her cooking.
Anjela's mother decided to cook Chilli for dinner tonight. Anjela had been relieved she was invited over to Bella's to visit. But yet again, she didn't like the idea of bieng over here, not with the plan Bella and Logan were planning to pull Friday night. Anjela already knew it was meant for her, so she made sure she kept a few feet away from her, just in case Bella tried anything.
" It's on the way," Bella told her, putting her phone in her pocket.
" Okay then," she sighed, her hands drumming on her knees.
They decided to pick the episode " The one with Mac and Cheese" and watched it silently, stiffling laughs every now and then. In the middle of the episode, Bella doubled over with laughter and Anjela flinched in sudden fear, as if Bella had a knife in her hand. Around the end, a timer went off, making Anjela jump up as if there was a tack on the sofa she was sitting on.
" You seem a little jumpy tonight," Bella remarked as the credits rolled.
" Yeah, I watched a scary movie last night," Anjela lied, hoping Bella wouldn't find out what she was really afraid of her.
" But you were with the Principle and Logan," she protested, swinging the remote in her hand.
" I was, but I watched it after they left," she explained carefully.
" Okay then, what did you watch?" Bella questioned with slight suspiscion in her voice.
Anjela thought for a moment and named a random title. " April Fools," she responded.
" Oh, I have that movie! It's like Friday the thirteenth!" she exclaimed happily.
The door bell rung and Anjela jumped again and shrieked in fright. Bella jumped up too but in excitement.
" Pizza man!" she yelped happily as she skipped to the door with money clutched in her hand.
As soon as she payed the delivery guy, she came back with two boxes of pizza in her hand. She set them down on the coffee table and disappeared in the kitchen for a moment, telling her that she needed to fetch the plates. As soon as she got back they began munching on their three meat pizza.
" So, I haven't watched that movie in a while," Bella chuckled as she took a bite from her pizza, " Let's watch it!" she suggested before getting up and retrieving the movie Anjela had apparently made up.
Anjela chewed on her slice nervously as Bella turned the lights out. " We can't watch it if it's not dark in here," she told her, wagging her index finger while laughing.
After thirty minutes into the movie, they heard heels clacking against the wooden floor. Bella paused the movie and held her finger up to tell her to be quiet as the sound came closer. Finally the sound stopped, and in front of the door stood a shadow, taller than they are and pulls out what sounds like knives clashing against each other. Slowly, Bella takes a flash light and shines it to the direction from the noise. They screamed together in fear as they saw and what they thought they saw was a monster, but calms down to realize it's only Bella's mother in a scary costume with a set of keys dangling in her right hand. She also held burgers in a giant pot.
