Chapter 6
" Come on, Dad's waiting," Alex reminded Anjela as he passed by her room.
Anjela groaned. She didn't want to travel with her father to school, especially since he was the vice principal. She remembered when she asked if she could take the bus to shool instead of the ride with ' cool dad', her mother said yes. But this morning, they missed the bus by five minutes.
Anjela finished applying her eye shadow and ran downstairs with her backpack slung over her shoulder. She spotted her father waiting at the door with the briefcase in his left hand and was staring at his watch on his right. She could tell that he was starting to lose his patience by the way he was tapping his foot against the wooden floor. She brushed past him and grabbed the poptart on the table, still in the wrapper.
" Alex, Anjela, were going to be late. Let's go," he ordered them before walking outside.
Alex appeared in front of her and grabbed the other poptart on the table. Anjela walked out and got in the blue mini van. When the door shut beside her, Alex was beside her, munching on his strawberry flavored poptart. Anjela took a bite of hers as well, the flavor tumbling inside. Her father then started up the car and pulled out of the driveway. She heard the radio flip on and Katy Perry went blasting in the speakers.
" Last friday night!" her father sang along.
Anjela sunk in her seat and tried to hide her head from the window, not wanting anybody to see her or her dad, who was now swishing his head around like a mad man. It had worked when she was at the old school, nobody had saw her with the wanna be man. It had kept her popularity safe from being destroyed.
" Oh, hey it's Logan. Let me say hi to him!" her dad said before rolling down the window.
Anjela nearly choked on her last bite of her poptart. She peeked out the window and sighed with relief to see only him walking down the sidewalk, his backpack hanging off his back. Fear pricked the ends of her skin, knowing her dad could embarrass her at any moment.
" Do you need a ride?" her father asked.
Logan's blue eyes traveled to her, then back at her father. He gave a smile and took off his backpack.
" Sure," he replied happily before joining Anjela and her brother in the middle.
" You're going to love riding to school today," Anjela sarcastically remarked as the car went forward once more.
As soon as another song came on, Alex and her slunk down once more, trying to keep their heads under the window. Logan did the same after a few moments, his face pale with a slight trace of humiliation.
" Do you have to go through this everyday?" he whispered to her.
" We missed the bus, so we're kind of stuck here until we get to school," she muttered in response.
Logan shifted in his seat a little. " I should have drove to school this morning," he grumbled.
" You mean you're old enough to drive?" she gasped.
The car came to a sudden stop. Keeping herself where she was, she snapped her eyes on the stop light, which was red at the moment.
" Yeah, I'm sixteen, so.." he trailed off.
The light turned green once more and the car turned right, where the school was.
" Uhh... can you drop us off in the back like you did with the old school?" Alex asked, his voice edged with fear.
" Yes, you're embarrassing father will drop you off there," he replied with an eye roll.
Her dad parked in the back and grabbed his briefcase. He then turned to the three of them. His green eyes flashed with joy.
