Chapter 12
" We're here," Bella whispered to Anjela, " Go sit in the front of the other wolves,"
Anjela nodded. " Ok,"
They were in the forest, trees surrounding them, the sun peaking through the spruce trees. To Anjela, it was usually too cold for her to go outside at this early in the morning. But since she now had a fur coat, She felt warm. Anjela padded in front of all the part wolves and sat where Bella told her too.
" Who are you?" an old, hoarse voice asked from behind.
Anjela spun around to see a black wolf staring at her with hostility, grey specks on her muzzle and ears. She had icy blue eyes just like her friends.
" U-umm, errr, I'm Anjela," she informed the elder.
" I've never seen you before," She protested.
Just then Logan came in between them. " She's a green, Granny," he told her.
Before she could protest, Logan cut her off. " And she's with us. So lay off," he snapped before turning to Anjela with a kind smile.
" That's my grandmother," he informed her with a sigh, " Everyone else calls her Melony though,"
Anjela gave a chuckle. " You didn't have to snap at her though. She's you're grandmother,"
" I know. It's just that we're kind of in a fight right now," he said with a sigh.
" About what?" she asked, interest ringing in her ears.
Back at her old school, she would be gossiping about everything she could get her hands on. She remembered working for the school press in middle school. Sure was popular there, but she still wanted to break any news to her classmates if anything great happened. Like the one time her enemy,Meghan, accidentally entered the mathaletes instead of the soccer team.
" She thinks I wasn't supposed to be bitten. I was born normal, but I was later bitten. Everyone in my family was born part wolf, but I wasn't. So ever since I joined them, she was against me with everything," he explained, glaring at Melony.
Before Anjela could reply, a howl broke in the air, causing the crowd to go silent.
Bella was standing on a rock above them, a patient look on her snow wolf face.
" Thank you," she told them with a nod, " Now I've called this meeting today to decide our new deputy. You guys know what happened to the last one," she whined softly, bowing her head down for a moment.
" So, this morning I made my decision. Anjela will be our new deputy," she informed them.
barks and howls of protest broke out, the wind picking up ever so slightly. Anjela gasped.
What is she doing? I just got introduced into this other world! Now she's making me deputy?
" Isn't there someone else to take the job?"she asked her, " I'm new to this!" she snapped.
Bella let out an angry bark. " Silence!" She yelled, causing the crowd to go quiet once more.
" I have a good feeling about this," she continued, " Anjela is a green and the only one left. My instincts say I must pick her,"
" Well you're instincts may be wrong," Melony spat, " She hardly knows a thing about being part wolf!"
Howls of agreement rung in the air. " Yeah and why would a green lead us?" another said, " We're blues! She's not!"
" Umm, excuse me? Who's leading here?" Bella growled at them, " I've made my decision, so let's move on," she suggested, glaring at her pack.
They all settled down and then waited for their leader to speak, exchanging glares at her.
