Chapter 15

Anjela's mother gave her a confused look.

"I'm not playing games," she replied dryly.

" No, no, I can prove it to you!" Anjela pleaded.

And with that, she backed away and let herself form into her wolf form, the crystal now glowing a lime green. Her mother backed away and grabbed a lamp, threatening to throw it.

" M-monster!" she shrieked, " G-get out of my house!"

" No, you got it all wrong, it's me-" as she was trying to step forward, her mother launched the lamp and it broke in her face.

She let out a yelp and jumped back. Anjela stared at her mother sadly before padding to Logan and Bella, who were at the front door.

" Come on, you can sleep at my house," Bella whispered over to her before they headed out together.

Anjela turned human again and the crystal no longer glowed its bright color. She had never seen her mother so frightened of her. It was like she had to blame herself for being part wolf. Anjela shook her head. She couldn't blame herself. Besides, she didn't choose to be one, it was just chosen for her.

" Well, I'm heading on," Logan told the girls, " Be careful, Anjela," he said as he kissed her on the cheek.

And then he was part wolf, running out of the neighborhood. Bella rolled her eyes before letting her inside her home and pointing a finger at the couch.

" You know where to sleep," she sighed before disappearing into another room.

Anjela let her shoulders droop. She might as well call her friend's couch home. She knew if her mother wouldn't let her in her house, there would be almost nowhere to go. Once she settled down on the couch, she pulled a blanket that was on the back and covered herself with it, making her feel secure for the first time today. Even though it was a thin, pale blue blanket, she felt a bit safer. Anjela cuddled up in it and closed her eyes, falling asleep after an hour had slowly gone by.

" Wake up. Wake up ,Anjela. Anjela!" Bella hissed, waking her up, little sun peaking through the windows.

" W-what is it?" Anjela asked, blinking her eyes, now alert.

Bella's face showed a mix of relief and worry, especially in her green eyes. " Look out the window,"

Anjela rose up and looked out the window to see an ambulance parked in her driveway, two people carrying her dead father on a stretcher, a white cover over his body. A few moments went by before her mother appeared, her face all teary eyed and a wrinkled tissue in her hand. Cocoa appeared at her side, hopping on her three legs. As the ambulance drove away, Anjela's stomach formed in tight knots. She then sighed, trying to put it behind her.

" Are you going to school?" Bella asked her.

Right. It's Monday.

" I might as well," she growled, " Maybe I can find the killers,"

Bella shook her head. " Don't get ahead of yourself, I bet you don't even know where to start,"

" I know," Anjela admitted, " but I'm pretty sure Luna might know something,"

" Alright, if you want to," Bella said as she threw her arms up in defeat, " Go get your stuff and get ready,"

Anjela nodded before heading out the door and cautiously went to her house. As she went inside, she spotted her mother sitting on the couch, staring at the floor. She silently shut the door behind her before attempting to walk up the stairs, only to be stopped by her mother's voice.
