Chapter 8

Anjela woke with a pounding headache. She opened her eyes and dragged her feet out of bed, only to fall back, the pain in her head too much to stand. She let out a slight groan and pulled the covers over her head. Just then the smell of bacon hit her nose. Confused, she slowly sat up.

Breakfast like this is only on Saturday. she thought. But it's Wednesday.

Anjela glanced at the clock to see it was ten in the morning. She gasped, realizing she was late for school. She got up and covered her eyes so light couldn't enter. She let her feet guide her slowly out of her room and bumped into a cold wall. She took a peak to see her reflection in the mirror. Anjela was wearing dark blue skinny jeans with a solid light grey top with long sleeves.

Strange. I don't remember wearing that.

Anjela walked down the stairs to see Alex, her mother and father, Bella, Logan, and an old guy sitting at the table, eating a big breakfast. The old man had brown greying hair with pale blue eyes.

He must be a teacher from the school Dad met.

" Who decided to have breakfast and not invite me?" Anjela grumbled.

Everybody turned their heads towards her.

" Oh and Mom? Is there advill anywhere? I have a really bad headache," she asked her mother.

" On the counter," she replied.

" Thank you,"she sighed as she brushed past her.

Anjela looked for the pill bottle and found it exactly where her mother said it was. She then popped one in her mouth and walked back to the the table.

" Why aren't we at school?I mean it's the middle of the week," she asked.

Alex stood up from his seat. " You know it's Saturday, right? Stop living in the past," he chuckled while grabbing a bagel.

Anjela stumbled back in surprise. It felt like it was Wednesday, but yet her brother said Saturday.

" T-that's not true," she rejected, " I remember going to sleep on Halloween and waking up to today. Stop playing jokes,"

Bella stood up from her seat. " It's true, Anjela. Something happened yesterday not too long after school,"

Anjela raised an eyebrow in confusion. " You must mean when we hung out yesterday and we gave candy out to little children," she protested.

" No, I'm talking about Friday. Can we talk?"

Before she could reply, Bella got up from her seat and pulled Anjela out of the dining room and into the living room.

" Okay. here goes," Bella sighed, " Did you ever see our eyes turn a different color before?"

Anjela chuckled in amusement. " Oh I know what this is. You guys are trying to trick me into something. Well you can stop now. That horror movie must have gone to my head," she laughed.

Bella's eyes glitched blue for one long moment before turning green again. Anjela gasped in shock.

This can't be real.

" Did you see that?" Bella asked.

Anjela nodded slowly. " Yeah, I guess I did,"

Bella backed away slowly. " This isn't possible. It can't be true," she whispered in shock.

" what isn't true? Is there something I don't know about?"

Bella didn't answer. Instead, she disappeared into the dining room and pulled Logan out back to the living room.
