Chapter 24

Anjela stretched after she emerged from the small dog door, her stiffened muscles relaxing. She had slept in her wolf form all night, and the chirping of the early birds had woke her easier than when she was human.

The sun was beginning to rise and the snow on the ground rose to her forearms, the chill slightly numbing her paws. She padded up to Bella's porch and waited outside the door. A couple moments passed before the door opened and her friend stepped out, turning into her wolf form, her blue eyes flashing with determination.

"What's first?" Anjela asked.

"We go to Luna's house and wait." She replied in a bitter voice, "And when her sister comes out to play, we'll take her."

"What about Luna? Won't she be with her the whole time? After all, the girl looks about six."

"Logan will distract her. Since he has a history with her, perhaps she will listen to what he has to say."

They both padded off the porch and started walking alongside the road. "What he has to say? What happened? And what history?" Anjela questioned.

She remembered Logan talking about Luna the other day, how he had made a deal with her and told her that it never worked out. She had asked what had happened, but Logan wasn't eager to share.

"Why don't you ask him? He knows more than I do."

"I tried," she admitted, "but he didn't want to tell me. He just said it wasn't my business. So I left him alone."

"Then maybe you shouldn't be asking any questions then." She suggested before sprinting ahead.

Anjela sped up and caught up with her, her pelt feeling the chilly breeze. "But how come he told you? I'm his girlfriend, and you're just his friend."

Bella snorted. "Are you really, Anjela? You two don't seem like a couple to me. You chat like friends, and you never even kissed him. The only reason why he shares this information with me is because I'm the pack leader."

She felt herself tense and she fought to keep the growl down that threatened to come out. She then realized what Bella was saying was true. They didn't act like a couple, they acted like friends. It wasn't fair for her. She didn't know much of what happened between them during her memory blackout, and she had just assumed her relationship with him was being girlfriend and boyfriend.

"Here we are." Bella whispered, rousing her from her thoughts, "Logan should already be here."

Sure enough, she was right. Logan was hiding behind a bush, waiting for them to show up. Alongside him was Ben in his wolf form. Once he spotted them, he whispered something in Ben's ear. Ben nodded and sprinted off, heading towards the forest.

"Luna and Kate are in the backyard." He told them as they came up.

"Is that her sister's name?" Anjela asked.

They both nodded.

"I'll get Luna out of the way, and that's when you two take Kate."

"We know that." Bella remarked, "We discussed it at the meeting. We're waiting for our distraction."

"Oh." He stuttered, looking in embarrassed for a moment.

Without another word, he took off, heading towards the backyard, his hands starting to clench. He disappeared for a moment before reappearing with Luna, her eyes glittering with anger.

"What do you want?" she snarled, "I thought I told you to never show up here again. You know what my father would do if he saw you here."

"Come on," Bella muttered, "we don't have all day."
