Chapter 18
The pounding and the barks grew louder as Anjela got ready to lunge at whoever was at the door. Her mother came out of her room, rubbing her eyes.
"What's going on?" she asked with a yawn.
Before she could reply, the door busted open and a wolf barged in and landed on Anjela. Not seeing who it was, she threw the attacker off, knocking over a lamp in the process. The wolf yelped before lunging onto her, the weight squeezing the life out of her. Her mother just watched like a deer in the headlights.
The one time she doesn't have the gun in her hand. Anjela thought in annoyance as she bit into the opponent's shoulder.
A few moments passed by before Anjela noticed they brought the battle outside, the moonlight shining onto the attacker and her.
"Anjela?" the wolf asked hesitantly.
He had a rust brown pelt with icy blue eyes, staring at her in confusion. They both froze. Anjela saw Logan standing over her, his fur dark in the dim light. She sighed with relief but then felt hot with embarrassment as she realized that she was laying on her back, her belly exposed while he was literally hovering above her, his snout inches away from hers. Anjela rolled over and stood in front of him.
"What are you doing here? I thought you were Luna and Alex," she demanded.
Logan sat on his hind legs. "Did Bella not tell you about hunting?"
She shook her head. Bella never mentioned anything about hunting.
He sighed. "Well, it's full moon, so it's hunting night,"
Anjela let out a grunt. "That doesn't explain why you were banging on the door like a maniac,"
"Oh, I uh," he stumbled, clearly embarrassed, "I was really excited to hunt with you, so I went to your house to get you, but you weren't there. So I talked to Bella and she said that you were here, so here I am,"
"And?"
"And what?" he asked, tilting his head.
"There has to be another reason why you decided to bark like crazy as if there was some murder after you," she growled, "You nearly scared me to death,"
"Oh. You weren't answering to knocking, so I thought someone attacked. And I panicked," he admitted.
"Anjela where are you?" her mother called out in a raspy voice, "Please don't be dead!"
She came out on the porch carrying the shotgun, looking around wildly.
"I better check on my mom. She must be as scared as I was,"
Logan shrunk back. "Okay, just hurry back. We're supposed to meet up with Bella,"
"At three in the morning?" she asked, raising an eyebrow.
"It's only ten at night," he told her.
To Anjela, it felt like it was the middle of the night, with the dream and all. But maybe they went to bed early in the evening.

The full moon glowed in the starry sky as Anjela and Logan trotted through the woods, the leaves dancing to the gusts of wind every now and then. Every time they breathed, fog like smoke would flare out of their snouts and disappear in the cold air.
"I think she told us to meet here," Logan informed her.
Anjela stopped and looked around, seeing nothing but trees and undergrowth. "Here?"
