That day was the second anniversary of the happiest day of my life. I pulled up by her house and she got on. As she got into my car, I couldn't help but grin from ear to ear. My angel, my entire life, was with me again, and I got to spend an entire day with her.

I reached to the backseat and pulled out a stalk of tulips.

"Happy anniversary," I said as she accepted the flowers. She looked beautiful even when she was embarrassed.

I took her to her favourite restaurant. As soon as we were seated, two plates of steak were laid before us.

Hers was medium... "Well. You know me well."

How blessed I am to have her.

"We can go and see the stars later, I know a good location."

"Actually, there's a place I want to go to."

I was caught by surprise- it wasn't like her to make choices. Yet, I was glad that we could go somewhere she liked. It didn't bother me as long as we could spend time together.

The field covered a vast expanse where a rainbow of flowers grew free. It was a sight to behold.

I followed my beloved to a specific row of flowers and she bent down to pluck a striped carnation.

As she handed it over to me, she said, "Thank you for another wonderful day. I'm sorry but I think this is the last time we're seeing each other."

Was I hearing things? This must be a nightmare.

"What did I do wrong? Tell me and I can fix it. Don't leave me like this, I'll try to be the right man for you."

She grasped tighter onto her sweater.

"The right man doesn't have to try."

The last thing I remembered of her was seeing a tear roll down her face as she walked away towards the sunset.

Leaving me was the choice she made.
