Jam stood against the railing on the rooftop, looking off into the horizon. The sun was about to set, leaving the sky in a splash of purple with pink clouds. At this moment her phone rang in her pocket.

She wipped it out and took the call, then put it down after mumbling some words. A few minites later two people emerged from the stairway.

"You could have told us where you were, got us all worried for nothing," Zan said, a little annoyed at her friend.

"I guess you would expect someone like her to be here at a time like this," Zarrin added before walking to the edge to join her friends.

"The sky is beautiful today, and it's pink. Do you think she's watching us from above?" Jam asked, obviously not the best thing to talk about.

"We've been through this... let's not talk about it okay?" Zan said silently, Zarrin giving her a worried look.

It was another school day, but unlike other days, it was gloomy as ever. The stark classroom contrasted sharply with the beautiful nature outside, and the dark aura could be felt from the other end of the school.

Tea was at her original seat, unexpectedly early today. She wasn't studying, she wasn't reading, she wasn't even drawing. That was a problem.

Naturally Zarrin went over to talk to her. "Hey, are you okay?" She asked. There was no response, she just sat there without even flinching. Sarah just sat beside her silently, she didn't have anything to say either.

After a few moments of awkward silence, Tea spoke suddenly. "I still remember her face, her voice, everything. That's all I have left of her. Is it possible to forget something like that?"

Zarrin opened her mouth trying to think of an answer, but before she could say anything Tea spoke again. "Because I'm afraid I would forget."

Sarah didn't say anything, she just silently sat there, she can't even comfort her table-buddy.

At the same time QQ was at her seat looking up at the wall clock hung close to the ceiling. Zan moved over to kneel in front of her desk and questioned the same thing as Zarrin.

"I don't know, I don't even know whether to feel sad or angry," QQ faced her and answer simply.

Turning her attention back to the clock, she said, "Everyone has a set time on this earth, nobody knows it until they die, but it would already be pointless by then. We only have her voice left in our heads now, I can almost still hear her laughing in the seat beside mine."

-

After assembly just before the first lesson, Zan noticed Belinda walking into the toilet alone. That was unusual enough for her to be worried about it. She told Zarrin she would join her later after sending her to the toilet to look out for Belinda.

Belinda was just sitting there, tears beginning to well up in her eyes. She blinked and the droplets fell down. Zarrin went up to comfort her and without having to say anything, enveloped Belinda into a warm hug.

Zan appeared through the door followed by Tea and Jam. Tea quietly told Belinda, "We all miss her, she was dear to us, but she's in a better place now."

Tea went on to hug Belinda too, with her vision becoming blurry from the liquid in her eyes. There was nothing they could do about it.

"She was a great friend, now I don't even get the chance to tell her that anymore," these words escaped through Belinda's breaths.

"Hey, you ask us if we are alright, but what about you? You should worry about yourself too."

"We're... okay. We're in the same stage as you, but we couldn't be more concerned. We don't want y'all to lose yourselves," Jam answered on behalf of the ones in question.

Everyone just stood there, without noise, looking down at the ground in grief, holding back the tears threatening to fall.

-

"I'm sure you all can tell, there is someone who isn't in class today, and she wouldn't be coming back. One of your classmates passed away last week in a tragic accident, and that classmate is Shanz."
