Chirping

This concept for this oneshot was heavily inspired by Peeps on AO3 written by MollyPollyKinz; basically, the SBI Family is a family of bird hybrids, and the others in this universe are also animal hybrids.
Also, since I'm not that good at writing just pure fluff, this oneshot might not be as good as you want it to be; sorry.

When I woke up, something felt off. I sat up and rubbed my eyes, trying to wake my brain up so I could think properly.

My wings had grown in about a week before - Wilbur hadn't stopped teasing me about how small they were - and I was still getting used to them, but I knew that the strange feeling I was having wasn't because of the knew additions on my back. It was something else. Something I'd been dreading; something that I had hoped and prayed for to never happen.

      Chirp.

I groaned, hiding my face in my hands. "Oh my- chirp- fucking- chirp- God."

This is the worst thing that could've ever happened to anyone ever.

There was a soft knock at the door. Slightly startled, I felt the odd knot in my chest contract. I buried my head in my blankets and pressed my hands to my mouth, trying my best to quiet down the chirping and failing completely.

My father's voice came from the other side of the door. "Hey, mate, is it alright for me to come in?"

The chirping only increased at the sound of his voice. I groaned again, irritated at the world, and I heard my dad chuckle before slowly opening the door. He walked over to my bed and sat down at the end. As the chirping got louder, I was about to scream in annoyance, but then I suddenly felt someone's hand gently comb through my hair, and the chirping immediately stopped. I sighed with relief.

Dad chuckled again. "N'aww, I always knew you'd be a chirper."

I lifted my head from my blankets and frowned at him. "I hate this. I hate everything."

He laughed a little - my dad was a giggly person. "You'll be fine, mate. It usually only lasts for a few days."

"Oh, God." I whined, dropping my head back into my hands. Dad stood up, retracting his hand from my head, and the chirping instantly started again at the loss of contact. I panicked and grabbed his arm, earning yet another chuckle from him. The next few days were going to be long.

Getting dressed was a nightmare. I obviously couldn't keep hold of someone the entire time, so I just had to endure the loud chirping until I was done. When I left my room, I was met with Wilbur instead of our father, who had abandoned me in my time of need. I'd had to latch onto my brother to cease the chirping, and he was taking advantage of every second of it - he was very clingy when it came to certain things. I despised him for it.

Downstairs, Dad was cooking breakfast while Techno was sitting at the kitchen island reading 'The Art of War' by Sun Tzu. I didn't want to be stuck with Will for any longer than I had to, so I let go of him and grabbed hold of Techno's arm as quick as I could. Wilbur made an upset noise in the back of his throat, Techno shifted in his seat a bit - he wasn't one for physical contact - and Dad chuckled, again.
