Sleep - Hanji Zöe

It was late and you and Hanji were working on pile after pile of paperwork.

The two of you were seated in a comfortable silence, with only the occasional comment or conversation keeping the two of you tethered to the real world. All in all, the both of you were pretty focused and would easily get wrapped up in the task at hand.

Looking out the window you see the moon high in the sky. Curious to what time it was you glance at the clock and your eyes widen a little bit.

3:12 AM

Suddenly the hard day's work hit you and you felt your exhaustion spill into every muscle and every bone, weighing your body and your eyelids down. In a last attempt to stay awake, you rub your eyes and stifle a yawn. The sudden rustle and noise coming from you alerted Hanji, and they raised their head from the stack of papers they were working on.

"Is everything alright my love?" They ask, mild concern dancing in their eyes. Your heart skipped and you could feel you cheeks heat slightly. Hanji loved calling you pet names and seeing how flustered they could make you sometimes.

Shaking your head you stifle another yawn.

"No everything's fine I'm just really tired is all" you respond, giving them a small gentle smile. They turned their head to look at the time before turning back to you.

"You know, it's pretty late and I don't want you to tire yourself out too much. You should go to sleep dear" Hanji says, getting up from their seat behind their desk and walking over to you.

Not really keen on doing any more work tonight, you make no rejections to their offer and slowly get yourself up from your chair, heading to Hanji's bedroom. The two of you would often share a bedroom because you two were together; you spending more time in their room, since it was much bigger (and more private) than the cadet quarters.

Removing your jacket you go to tuck yourself into Hanji's bed, snuggling into the soft sheets that smelled like them. Hanji smiled down at you and gave you a soft kiss on the forehead before pulling the blanket up around your shoulders. You smile and close your eyes, waiting for the weight of Hanji's body to sink down beside you. When nothing happened you open your eyes to see Hanji walk out of the room.

"Where are you going?"

They stop in the doorway and turn to face you again.

"There's still a lot of work and I wanna try to finish it tonight" they reply.

You knew that if not forced Hanji would not get the sleep they need, and would end up working all night without rest. Their self disregard often worried you; you wanted Hanji to be happy and healthy, but they often made that hard when they didn't even bother to care for them-self. If you were going to get some rest tonight, you weren't going to do it unless they got some too. Even if you had to hold them down, or knock them out.

"Absolutely not. You need sleep so get you ass into this bed" you say, rising up from your comfortable position.

You see Hanji smirk a little bit. "Giving orders now are we?" They say, their voice getting cocky. Despite the playful tone in their voice you could tell they too were tired.

Getting out of bed completely you walk over to Hanji and take their hands in yours.

"Please Hanji" you begin, looking into their eyes, slightly shadowed by their spectacles. "You know I worry about you and the lack of care your provide yourself. We've both been working really hard all day, and I think it time that BOTH of us get some rest." Your hands tighten around theirs, awaiting their answer.

After a few beats of silence, Hanji lets out a soft sigh. Pulling you closer and giving you a gentle kiss on the lips, they let you guide them over to the bed. You climb back into the covers and watch Hanji remove their jacket and throw it on the chair. Climbing in beside you, you wrap your arms around their torso and dig your face into their chest. Feeling their arms wrap around you, you inhale their calming scent, leaning up you kiss them one last time before falling into a peaceful sleep.

Hanji POV

Hanji didn't fall asleep so quick, but they didn't mind all that much. Looking down at their lover in their arms, they let a small smile grace their features. You were amazing, and your body fit so well with Hanji's that they never wanted to let you go. Never to have you out of their arms, away from their embrace. You were home, your arms always a safe place they could return to. And god did Hanji love you. More than anything

Burying their nose into your head, they place a few small kisses onto the crown of your skull, before they too let themselves fall into a peaceful sleep.

A/N: Heyyy sorry this is up much later than I wanted it to, and sorry if it's short and rushed; I've been working on this other fanfic that I wanna get a few chapters written before publishing, but I've also been getting my ass whopped by this term paper that I have to write (and I don't even know how to write a term paper) so I'm just tryna bullshit the whole thing to the best of my abilities.
Also by the time this is published I have almost 500 reads which is pretty swaggy if you ask me. Also I was #5 in #Annieleonhart for like three whole days so than you guys I love you all!!! Gn!
