Beach Day - Nanaba

Modern AU

(Quick A/N so I was looking into it and a lot of people say Nanaba is a female but I also see a lot of people using they/them so I'll be using she/they pronouns for them.)

"Hey y/n! Lets go to the beach today!" Your partner says as they turn from their station right in front of the fan. "It's so hot today I think it will do is some good."

It could be a good idea; it was the peak of summer and the sweltering heat had made it's way into every household and every crevice of your world. Humming from your spot on the slightly cool floor, you give a look of approval to your partner.

She shoots you an excited smile and gets up to put a beach bag together. With everything you need gathered up, the two of you head out to your car for the drive to the beach.

The car was WAY too hot for your liking, and your thighs stuck uncomfortably to the seats, and your hands burned on the seatbelt clasps. It was almost an hour drive, but you weren't sure if you could survive without fully cooking in the vehicle.

Nanaba pulls onto the highway and you crank the car's AC up as high as you can.

"Turn on the radio too" she says, eyes ever on the road. Complying to their wishes, you turn it on and adjust the knob to your favourite station, letting the music fill the comfortable silence.

You two enjoyed each other's company as you looked out the window at the view of the oncoming sea, the strip of azure meeting the cerulean of the clear sky, the soft yellow of the sand running up into the land. Eventually you reach the turn-off, and pull into the crowded parking lot along the beach. Getting out, you grab your things and try to find a spot to set up. Due to the heat, it was crowded. VERY crowded.

None the less, Nanaba, being the genius that they are, found a great spot for your towels and umbrella, and began setting up and putting on some sunscreen.

She stripped herself of her clothing, her swimsuit on underneath. Nanaba was gorgeous. A muscular toned body, and smooth, unblemished skin. She was the definition of perfect.

You suddenly began to feel self conscious. Not because of what Nanaba would think of you; they had seen you in many more stages of undress; but of everyone else, and how totally unperfect you were compared to Nanaba.

Sensing your hesitation at changing, Nanaba turns to you, a questioning look on their face.

"Everything okay babe?" They ask as you sit with your knees to your chest underneath the shade of the umbrella.

"Oh! N-nothing!" You say, stuttering over yourself.

You stuttered when you lied, and Nanaba knew it too.

They crouched down in front of you, lifting their sunglasses to their forehead. "Cmon y/n, tell me what's up" they say, lifting your chin with their long slender fingers. The action made butterflies erupt in your stomach.

Searching your eyes, Nanaba figured out what was bothering you. She knew you almost better than you knew yourself.

"If you're worries about the way you look, don't. You're gorgeous y/n, and I bet everyone who looks at you can see it. I certainly do" she says, her tone light but sensual. You giggled at the compliment and felt immediately better. "Cmon, I'll put some sunscreen on your back" she says as she grabs the hem of your shirt and lifts it up.

You still felt mildly self conscious, but you followed through in pulling off your clothing to change into your swimsuit. Nanaba spreads sunscreen in the areas where you can't reach.

Once the two of you were ready and protected from the sun, Nanaba grabs your hands and pulls you up, dragging you towards the water. She pulls you quickly as your feet quickly get submerged in the cool blue water. It was cold, but it was such a nice relief from the heat.

You two splashed around a bit in the thigh high water, laughing and having fun. Suddenly, you feel your partners arms around your waist as you were suddenly dragged back first into the water. You were too surprised to be angry as you felt Nanaba's arms encircle you as she swam out to slightly deeper waters, where there were less children and more adults just hanging out. They sat you on their knee as they rested one leg on the sand below and slightly floated with you on top of them.

You put your arms around their neck and turned your head, smiling at your lover. She leans up and takes your lips in theirs, giving you a sweet, slightly salty kiss. You threaded your fingers through their wet hair as you two break away for air. You two smiled at each other and giggled, and you lightly splashed water at her, laughing even harder.

Once again, it turns into a splashing match, you two laughing loudly and enjoying the cool water and the hot sun.

It had gotten late, the afternoon sun slowly making its descent in the sky. You and Nanaba were exhausted from swimming all day, so you decided to pack up all your stuff and head over to the car; the parking lot still full with people enjoying their beach day. Putting your belongings in the back, you slide beside your partner in the front, getting sand on the seat and the floor.

You were quiet, but it was that soft, comfortable feeling of swimming and spending the day in the sun. A small smile played on your lips as you felt more relaxed than you have in a while.

Before leaving the beach for the day, Nanaba rests their hand on your cheek, turning your head towards them, as they lean over and kiss you, the action full of love and tenderness.

Breaking away, you take one last look at the sea before you and your lover head home.
