Fantasy AU
*this is kinda inspired by rapunzel, as in you are locked in a secluded tower under the care of some eerie woman, and one day while she's out, a mysterious knight comes to rescue you
*also I made this one an explicitly fem reader cus it will make the most sense, but I will go back to the gender neutral stories right after this.

Ymir POV

'God this place is a dump' Ymir though to herself as she clambered to the base of the mysterious tower.

She had been traveling for the past few days, on some stupid knight errand for her queen.  She had been travelling on her horse for long hours, her armour weighing her down and her bags making the trip longer than it needed too. It was the second day of her journey, and a storm was coming in fast from the west.

'I gotta find shelter. ASAP.'

She had ridden for a few more minutes, entering an eerie valley. Eventually she came upon a tower surrounded by brambles and dead bushes.

Those events led to where she was now: covered in cuts and scrapes from the thorns, pacing the base of the tower looking for an entrance. Eventually she found some lose stones, obvious they've been disturbed recently. Digging her fingers into the rubble, she starts to pull the bricks away and eventually revealed a small trapdoor.

Ymir hesitated briefly; unsure of what dangers could be inside, but she heard the thunder almost completely overhead and decided to take her chances with the tower. She was a knight after all. She slipped inside the dark Interior, and closed the door just as the rain started to come down with force.

'Damn just in time. Good for me' Ymir's inner monologue congratulating her luck. She cranes her head and looks at the winding staircase, leading up to a small, oak wood door. Praying her luck would last, she starts the long trek to the top of the tower.

Eventually she reached the door, approaching it silently and resting her ear against the wood. She heard a soft gentle humming from inside, and the noise of clay dishes being jostled together. With the silence and stealth of her knight training, she twisted the doorknob, surprised to see it unlocked. The door didn't even creak as she opened it, and revealed a large round room with bookshelves, two beds on either side of the the large room, and a small kitchenette, where a girl was standing, her back to the door, humming and cleaning some dishes.

She was short, well, shorter than Ymir, and was barefoot in a simple blue dress. Ymir was intrigued. 'What is a girl doing all alone all the way out here?' She thought to herself. Getting curious she took a few steps closer, but she want paying attention to her surrounding, and her armoured foot kicked a vase she didn't notice.

The sound of metal on glass and glass breaking against stone alerted the woman of Ymir's presence, and she whipped around, one hand braced against the sink ledge, and a wet and soapy kitchen knife in the other.

Ymir stopped dead in her tracks, one hand raised in surrender and the other slowly drifting towards the sword at her hip. She kept her eyes locked on the girl in front of her, but her movements faltered when she truly paid attention.

She was pretty. Really pretty.

Maybe, prettier than the queen.

No.

Definitely prettier than the queen.
